merging weapons
hey all,

I am currently fooling around with whatever I can find on the next concerning Borderlands 2 and I stumbled upon this merging of weapons. Youtube videos show its quite easy to do this and I suppose it happens alot without even realizing it by accident.

I am confused about what aspects of the guns in questions get merged. The examples I ve seen so far always take special abilities from other guns like ammo regen or leech effects.

If I would have 2 identical guns (in stats), one dealing fire and the other dealing slag damage. Merging these would I end up with a gun that would deal fire AND slag damage at the same time?

I tried it already of course and it seems that this doesnt work so my question is.

What exactly can be transfered? And is the merging consistent over zones and over several games?

Errr...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but merging of weapons is no BL2 mechanic -
Must be a hack/cheat.

well I m not using any outside programs and the merging does work for my Grog Nozzle and a regular Sniper Rifle.

I did not know that. Still doubt it's a gameplay mechanic - Probably a glitch.
Then again, I may be totally wrong here.

Merging weapons, what you talkin 'bout willis? There is no such things afaik. But, i'll ask... what steps did you take to merge your grog and a sniper?

It's a glitch, it isn't supposed to happen but I've seen people merge grog and DPUH for instant healing with one gun.

I think i understand, when you swap the weaponA out for weaponB, sometimes special characteristics of A may be bestowed upon B... that sort of glitch? And that can happen with the grogs healing power?

No, when you switch your weapon but quickly go to inventory as the animation is still playing, you switch that weapon with another, the effect gets passed on and stays until you switch out of that gun. I think that's how it works.

ok... thnx for the explanation... i don't think i'm so interested in exploiting that sort of glitch :)

It sounds like the Flakker glitch which does the same thing.

yep exactly and as far as I can tell the merging continues through zones. I just dont know the details of this "glitch" yet so does anybody know if its possible to create a corrosive weapon which also slags at the same time?

That would be pretty cool though if the Harold and Grog could be merged. A slagging DP Harold? That would be an epic gun.

The merging only copies the effect of a gun, not the element e.g the healing of the grog nozzle is copied but not the slag.
PS: I don't recommend doing this stuff, rather play it properly and as intended.

I dont intend using this on a regular basis, the self-healing from the grog alone is pretty game-breaking alrready. As I mentioned I just wanted to "fool around" see whats possible :)

You can transfer all the bonus effects, life leech, infinite ammo with vladoff launcher, crit modifiers, melee buffs, talking gun effects etc.

For instance, you can have a Harold, with 65% life leech, infinite ammo (no reloading at all) and +800% crit modifier. Additionally, if your Harold is an Intense variant (or if you tweak it into Intense) and change the manufacturer to Jakobs, the projectiles will also ricochet off any solid surfaces.

Good for anarchy mechro, is balanced :P
