Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2

Statistiche:
Insane FPS Drops with 780TI SLI and 750TI for PhysX (mostly fixed i hope)
Drivers are all uptodate, PhysX is set to the 750Ti, yet the framerates still drop down to 40 all the time.. this shouldn't happen at all on a system like i have... is the PhysX such a mess in this game? Edit: I deleted the WIllowEngine.ini, started the game, reconfigured and bam, FPS are above 60 now with some slight dips into the 50's with PhysX high in 2560x1440p.

Its just PhysX...
Take it off and don't even think twice about it.
I haven't had a chance to test it out though since I just switched to an AMD 290x, but its probably a game error, not a GPU error.
Can someone confirm?

It's simply unoptimized, the devs and Nvidia apparently don't give a ♥♥♥♥ and ignore the customers.

I have a 760Ti and GeForce Experience set everything, including PhysX, to max. I'm on 1080p with framerate capped at 60 and Vsync off. Works great on my end.
So you want to tell me you have constant 60FPS with everything maxed out & PhysX on High without any single drops? Proof or it didn't happen.

You're one of the lucky few!

We are on the same boat. I am experiencing huge FPS drops with high level Physx too. I've 780ti @ 1240/1900 + 2600K @ 5ghz.

Honestly, I'd rather PhysX be CPU based, as it is in game engines (such as UE4) that way its both universal and optimized for all parties (AMD included).

You know what annoys me the most? i have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ two 780Ti's, with an extra 750Ti for PhysX.. yet the frames still drop below 60.. this game is a freaking mess x.x
when there is a lot of physx effects going on, fighting with lots of boom booms, there will always be a substancial drop in frame rates even with a titan SLI set up with another titan as physx. (there is an old thread on overclocker.net if you care to see)

check what physx you have installed and try another version. in the last 1.5 years out of 4 different, one (forgot which) was horrible so, its a bit of roullette.

BL2 isn't the only game that is affected, try running metro 2033 or last light benches, have physx set to high and watch the same thing happen.

sorry methinks people expect too much (or too little in terms of frame rate drops). had a 570 with 550ti as physx and if i stood there taking a lot of fire, esp from explosive weapons, i would be watching a slideshow. haven't seen below 30 fps since upgrading to a 780 and same physx card. not great but still playable until i get undercover in game play as sal, only character i've played.

Just a thought, wouldn't your dual 780ti in Sli be able to handle any Phyx better than the single 750ti... I say that including whatever graphic duties the 780Ti have to preform... The game uses direct x9 (I believe) and isn't really that taxing...
I've been playing it with a Phenom 955 and a GTX460 1Gb with PhyX on medium and had no noticable problems.

Nope, apparently the 780Ti has tremediously bad PhysX performance.. because i've tried to dedicate one 780Ti for PhysX and i got massive framedrops.. worse than before.
It's funny how the official Physx benchmarks (for a 680 specifically, which I happen to have myself) show that bl2 should run a perfect 60. I'd have to assume they only benchmarked the opening area of the game.

It's such a shame because after you've seen the game with physx, with it off just looks so barren. Even the blood, which looks odd at first but to me matches the comic book aesthetic really goes amiss.

And I wish the people who say they run the game with physx "perfectly" would upload a 60fps video, because the fact it apparently works fine for some people but not for others, often with the exact same or worse hardware just boggles the mind.
same thing here...
I have a GTX 770 overclocked that should run smoothly borderlands as it do in all other games that i have... sad this function really doesn't work.

turn off or low pshyx so u can play. =((

Any plan to devs of borderlands or nvidia fix it? ( whoever created the problem )

they won't... they are lying. :)

you aren't correct saying the 780ti is horrible @physX. just download the latest version of fluidmark:
http://www.geeks3d.com/20130308/fluidmark-1-5-1-physx-benchmark-fluid-sph-simulation-opengl-download/

and run it on both the 780ti and the 750ti. even though maxell has a ~1.5x adavantage over kepler for cuda applications, such as physX, there is no way 640 maxwell cores is beating 2880 keplar cores in anything but power consumption.
when I first played borderlands 2 I had a 580 sc and ran great. 2nd card I got was
a 680 ftw and it ran lke crap. Now I have a 780ti and it runs good again.
Skyrim also ran like crap with my old 680 ftw.
