Crashes Immediately upon opening
My game crashes immediately. I keep checking my file integrity and there is always 1 file that is corrupted. I reload the file, exit steam, restart steam and get the same problem. What gives/

I turned off my startup programs and it works fine now

I have exactly the same issue as well, steam will update the 1 file and then it will crash again.

I managed to fix the crashing so now I can play the game.
In order to fix it, I had to rename the movies folder to movies.old so that it did not attempt to play any intro movies.
I also tried to disable the cloud sync and delete the userdata folder for it as well, but renaming the movies folder seemed to be the key.

I had to contact Wizards of the Coast about this. They said to do this:

Go to program files ---> Got to Steam ---> Steamapps ---> Common ---> Magic the Gathering 2012 ---> PreReqs ---> DirextX File Folder ---> Scroll down to "DXSETUP" application ---> Run DXSETUP and follow instructions ---> Restart Steam and restart game
