Plans for an Actor Creator?
Does the developers have plans for a in-game character creator (like in Souls series) or maybe a way to modify player's appearance by creating your own actor?

This has been asked for a lot and their response I think is that they're working on it, and release is estimated for the first quarter of 2018

Cheers!

The reason its taking so long is because they're releasing it alongside a talent based skill tree, and map authors will have the option to control that progression system, along with creating custom avatars, on a map series basis.

They mentioned that trying to release talents and new abilities, and then fold in author customization later, would be a programming nightmare. So they're doing it all in one update.

Not bashing at anyone here but at this point I think it would be a good thing to add a future plans in the forums. A lot of the times the same things or questions are being asked and awnserd.

Agreed. Not a full detailed list because that is subject to change, but some of the broader strokes. Ideas on how devs are actually thinking about doing them, and about what timeframe they put on them. Just something to address the commonly asked questions.

I think if we had such a thread, that we the users would have to accept that whatever appears in the 'future plans' is not set in stone, either for when a given feature will appear in the schedule, or whether it will actually make it off the drawing board.
It will continue to be, I suspect, an ebb and flow between what's being asked for the most against what's easy to do against what is most notably absent from a good ARPG.

With those provisos I'm all for it :)

Exactly. I'm particularly interested to hear what massbot and ravey actually feel is missing, and what they are excited to work on that is happening soon, and what definitely isn't happening soon and is way down the line.

For example, I thought for sure we'd get elves not long after dwarves and orcs. But now we are three theme packs down, and that hasn't happened. And I'm not complaining, those DLCS have been really awesome. But clearly massbot's idea of what doodads are missing, and my idea of what doodads are missing, don't line up. Which again, I'm not complaining at all, we've had really amazing content come out nonstop from him. It just makes me really interested to hear about what he likes and what he wants to put in next, and some of the broader themes he'd like to see implemented inside 6 months.

Same with Ravey. I'm really interested to hear more about those talent trees, custom avatars, and author controlled progression system ravey mentioned for possibly the first quarter of 2018. What might that ential, generally speaking, and what is the project after that?

How far away is a ranged class? 1h weapons class? Shields? Animal npcs? Doesn't need to be a date, and we're all understanding that its subject to change.

speaking of which, have they said what the goals are for leaving early access?

How will they make an actor creator if armor is still dropped as sets and is bound to a current "subclass"?

Any plans to revamp that at all?

What would be really nice is if you could create your own actor, and then wear whatever armor you please with it, and select a class later for skill points/tree. So certain armors are not bound to certain actors.

If actor creation is only within current classes, then that's kind of lame imo.

They *NEED* to make armor come in seperate parts. Helm / Platebody / Platelegs, or AT LEAST Helm / Plate suit seperation.... otherwise actor creator aint happening

Agreed. In my view, weapons and equipment unique to a class should be replaced by unique skills, just like you said.

What I'd like to see in the long run, is an ability creator, similar to how the character creator works now. Instead of an AI, you choose a base ability. Instead of a weapon/body you choose an animation. You recolour optional particle spell effects. Sliders control things like damage, cast time, recharge, duration, range, etc.

And also an equipment creator, where you choose armour, recolor it, name it, and set its stats.

I'd like to link spawn pads to custom avatars, where you create a custom character by giving him custom abilities and outfitting them in custom armor. Create their body via the npc creator as now. So authors can lock say an Orc berserker or a dwarven warrior as the protagonist of their story, with appropriate abilities for each.

Everyone has their own idea of how heavy armor should work, or how a viking raider would fight differently from a knight. The only way players will be able to implement those ideas is if they have complete control of stats, appearance, and abilities.

I'm very much looking forward to the implementation of talent trees, and can't wait to see what they do with that.
