NATURAL SELECTION 2:
This game is outstanding! I played the original Natural Selection MOD for Half-Life and this is a gorgeous looking game through and through. It's aesthetic cohesion and replayability make this something that can be played time and time again. Between Marines and Aliens, and the many maps and technologies and lifeforms and upgrades and the cooperation and coordination is key. Then there is the COMMANDER role that turns this already grand game into its own RTS style interface, a birds-eye-view of the action; needing to listen to your troops/hordes requests and concerns. Communication is the cornerstone of this game, so having a good headset is a must.
This game is only a few years old, but has a very strong very (generally) helpful community of players. However any game community that is independently created, crowdfunded, and operated always needs more new players to keep it alive, so thats where I URGE YOU to BUY THIS GAME!
Don't be swayed by those that say it has a "massive" learning curve, don't get me wrong there is a learning curve, but in the best way possible. There are so many things to get good at, and strategies that can be done on the various beautifully made maps, there are so many weapons, and classes that you can be "good" or "bad" at. So it'll probably take a lot of dying before you learn how to land those "bites" or "bullets" correctly in order to secure those kills and better help protect your team and push for further command points.
The strategic and coordination element of this game is out of this world, so many ways each match could be played. There are skill levels that get calculated based upon a variety of factors, namely kill/death , win/lose, attack/defend, build/destroy, time spent/rounds etc ratios. It blew me away how many variables there are in a given game, that its not just a BAD commander or a BAD player, or even just a BAD team; literally a dozen other things that could have affected a game to go one way or the other. So in the middle of a game if your losing and the team all blames the commander for not doing this or that, or the commander is blaming the team for not listening to commands or being ''noobs'' or whatever, so in short don't be scared by any learnign curve, or anything that anyone else says isn't good about this game, because they are wrong. It is filled with solid individuals from all over the world who unite together and fight in this beautiful space epic. Natural Selection 2.
This game is awesome, and YOU should BUY IT!
