Please help me fix my NS2 performance
Sometimes I can play perfectly fine. But since the last update my performance has become worse than ever. It is mainly the stuttering. It is worse on certain maps like Veil and Descent. I try to change the graphics options but putting then on even the lowest of settings makes absolutely no difference. Sometimes the game will freeze up for 5 or more seconds before returning to normal, then I will move across the map again and it will freeze again. It is particularly bad during fights when I jump into the action and the game just freezes up and then lags a bit and I come back and I am dead. Then I usually have 999 ping and I end up getting kicked from servers with auto high ping kicking mods.

I want to play this game again. I've put a lot of hours into already since I bought it last December. But now it is unplayable.

This is happening to everyone at the moment it seems. Stay in there and hope the next patch will fox it again....

Yes lets hope they fox it :P

So most people have this problem?

When I open the game the textures in the background take a while to load in properly. Same thing occurs when first joining a server

If you only seen what I had: monoclored objects, freezes, lags, chessboard image instead some textures sometimes. Unless it crashes while loading.
Used to play it smoothly in beta! I guess it all is the memory allocation bug they are fixing now, hopes for the next patch(es). I believe they will manage it ;)

learn to play with low performance... it wont be better

DX9 mode, let your textures all load in. I only get stuttering from textures loading in, I wait a little bit and then I don't have any stuttering but it seems to stop when switching to DX9 rendering.

How do you switch to DX9 mode? I have a hunch that is what I am already in

Should be at the very top in your graphics options in-game.

It may seem counter intuitive to some, but I actually achieve better performance in DX11 than DX9.

It might be worth switching over if you have a DX11 capable card, just to see.

I have a GTX 650 2gb and I notice a slight drop in performance with the D11. By slight I mean my FPS drops by 2-3 overall. However, the game is smoother and although the FPS is lower the frames are more consistent. Devs have confirmed that D9 is currently the best overall performance wise at the moment. I believe D11 and OpenGL are in beta phase.

Yes Falcon, that's my experience too - with DX9, I have a huge amount of bites missed as a skulk and my lmg aim takes a huge hit too. With DX11 everything just flows that much smoother. Also, the intro screen with all the game options loads a hell of a lot quicker. Strange, but true!

I work absolutley fine, running all the latest software and stuffs.

Could lower settings.

Thanks! I seem to be getting smoother gameplay and even higher FPS! Textures also load in faster. I've been stuck on DX9 for so long and never changed it.
