1) Build 250 was just released. While there were large changes to both sides, there were far more obvious ones on the alien side. Different upgrades, different movement. This required players to essentially relearn alien tactics, and as a result led to losses. Marine basic "point and shoot" didn't change.

2) In conjuction with the release of Build 250, there was a Steam Sale. Sales = new players, and new players don't know what they are doing. More losses, as aliens takes more to learn.

3) The only true balance issue right now is the fast accessablity and lack of any counter to Flamethrowers and Grenade Launchers.

Things are not nearly as inbalanced either way. Most calls of "Aliens OP" or "Marines OP" are by people who havn't played much at all, got stomped, and don't want to learn.

JP and Exos on 1 Tech point is another true balance issue.

Marines can lose entire bases and it doesn't slow them down. Aliens lose a hive and it's a massive loss. That's a huge balance issue. Before in 249, losing a tech point was heavily damaging to both. All marines lose from 1 tech point is access to dualies.

That's been confusing me, too. I don't understand why so much importance is placed on dualies when they aren't needed. They're more detrimental because they can't phase, weld, or build. Rush an Advanced Armory with Jetpacks, then win with grenade spamming and shotguns. Throw in a flamethrower for the fun of it. Recover weapons if you die.

Exos are only detrimental once a certain ratio gets hit. Generally I think at most 33% of the team should be exos at any one time. Having 50% exos is really dangerous for a variety of reasons.

But the move to single tech point JPs seriously unbalances the game. Couple this with FT and GL and whips no longer deflecting and the game is just....

I dunno, I think I'm going to give the game up soon entirely. If the devs cannot see the most basic unbalancing issues, this game has no real future.

I really liked balance better before the patch...

Not to mentioned the increased cost for alien evolutions. Definitely like pre-250 more.

Yes and no. 3 full slots is more expensive than in 249 for everything but skulk.

Fullly upgraded Onos is 60 + 3x8 = 84 vs 75. Gorge costs 11 vs 10. Fade 55 v 50, lerk 31 vs 25,

You guys should probably realize that Daxx is a fanboi. This game is balanced horribly since the last patch. I've played games that go an hour and a half because aliens with all hives and upgrades can't take out the three exo's in the only marine base, and when they do kill one by then they've bought another using their one res node's res production.

When that doesn't happen the marines tend to steamroll the aliens completely.

All of my friends have already uninstalled. I would, but I'm an old fanboi from NS1 days so I'm praying they fix this crap in the next patch somehow. Given the developer's responses on their own forums though the answer has been "Live with it, this is the future of NS2."

So yeah, don't buy this unless you're already a fan. I mean for goodness sake, Farming Simulator has more players since the last patch if you don't count the 2 to 3 days after the $5 sale. Unfortunately this game is dying - the developers have killed it.

How many of your friends (of 82) played the game?

I'm seeing most of my NS2 friends (28 total) either stop playing or curtail hours dramatically. Most of them were into the 20 hours weekly. Now only 4 of them, including an admin have double digits. Only 2 of them are the 20s. 66% of my NS2 friends have entirely stopped playing.

From what i've seen, they really just buffed marines too much.

First MACs are EXTREMELY overpowered, and a good comm just pumps those out. 1 can keep an evo healed too well.

Then, All the marines need a 2nd base for is dual exos, aliens need a 2nd and 3rd base just for 75% of their upgrades.
Also with the cost of all exos lowered marines can easily just chain 1 right after another.

Flamethrowers and GL have no counter now and are extremly overpowered. The FT really needed a damage buff, but the fuel buff was just too much.

a lot of 250 is good. a lot (especially the tech1 exos/jp nonsense), is bad.
I really REALLY like the new movement for aliens, biomass is fine... but marines just seem to decimate earlier.

Guys, I will say this MARINES ARE NOT OP, because still even with newest patch they are loosing more than Aliens, and even if they can buy those exos with one tech point, that usually only means that they will try to survive...
There are a lot of bad changes made for Marines too, so yeah...
For example Exos cn now have only 445 armour not 500 with something...

I also meant all the evolution/tech research, the alien economy as a whole is more than marines. The cost for biomass, 3 spurs/shells, drifters to build them. Gorges babblers are 1 res per egg. Egg spawn cost 5 res. All the higher lifeform eggs from team res cost more.

Agreed. I was going to buy another copy as a gift for my friend, after 1 hour into the new patch, I can't tell him to try it. Too many things went wrong with this patch.
