Im the meantime Gorge might be a good role to play for you, it's a fairly cheap class and is less focused on good timing and high reflexes.
Remember: You only get res while you are alive, so sitting in res timers cuts into res flow as well.
I will say that I am all for adding more variety to the skulks in terms of upgrades, so that we aren't completely overwhelmed by shotty/jetpacks, flames, nade launchers, if we want to play skulk over the other classes.
But too many gorges gets an alien team killed early. Half gorge end game isn't uncommon and the amount of bile 6 gorges can lay down is dominating. But early on, too many gorges leads to marines RT and bases not being harrassed.
opinions are not facts.....
just mehh....
all fart but no poop....
D;
There are some good tutorial vids out there if you want to have a look, otherwise, practice Gorging and Lerking? both are fairly easy to get - thus (if you are good) letting you stay as that lifeform for 90% of the game.
Pretty much never see all gorge teams. Unless it's a gorge hydra rush which rarely works.
On a team of 12, having 4 gorges I think should be the max early game. Too many gorges limits Aliens in how they can harass RTs. And that is key to Aliens. Plus, having too many gorges in one area to skulks can lead to bad outcomes. 3 Gorges, no skulks against 6 marines in Bar? Not a good outcome for Aliens even with lots of hydras. Replace 2 gorges with a few skulks and alien chances go way up.
That said, I do tend to play gorge alot. Hence my icon.
Ambushing is very much possible if you aren't like some idiot skulk sitting above a doorway or in a corner...... Use sound to your advantage, stay around a corner or in a spot that is NOT visible to marines, then when you hear their footsteps, come out and jump on them.
Skulks are my favorite thing to play in this game, but you reallly have to know what you are doing to not die constantly playing one. For starters, lots of times it is not good to jump on a marine and trying to constantly follow him while biting to kill him. Lots of times it is best to jump on a marine and take 1-2 bites, then dash up a wall/around a corner/cieling quickly and come back around and take another 1-2 bites.
Also, you need the patience to not just run and attack a marine when you see them or when they are in ambush range... you need to look at your fellow players and see if any are coming to help and attack when they do, especially from multiple direction is best.
Use wall hopping to great effect to gain speed. If you didn't know, if you jump off walls , you gain speed.
