How gory is this game?

I am interested in buying this game, but because I can't find any age rating for it, I was wondering how gory the game is.

It's more gorgeous then gory... hahaha. But pun aside, it isn't that gory at all. There are no gibs at all or severed bodyparts, AFAIK. The aliens bleed green. Marine blood is still red, but even that is more like redundant. You won't see THAT much of it, even when you bite them up close. This game isn't about blood and splatter in the first place anyway. The amount there is is purely for hit indication. ;) But there are many videos on the net, so why don't take a look yourself.

Thats good to hear, the main thing I was worried about was gibs, It's not that i'm sensitive, it's just that I prefer not to have too much gore.

The game is completely voide of gibs and gore. It has blood that gets on aleins teeth when biting mareins,and when you die as a marein, your screen fills with blood. Much like the N64 007 game.

IMO its not gory at all. If you are not convinced, youtube for user 'NaturalSelection2HD' those videos are released by UWE.

Well, just watched the Gorgeous Update Trailer and I have to change my statement a little bit.

Cause with the introduction of the Railgun Exo you are actually able to gib aliens with your shots.

Oh and by the way, if the trailer isn't to gory for you and you are now actually thinking about buying this awesome game, do it when the update goes live later this day, cause the game will be off 50% in the store then.

As it so happens, I was about to comment on this when I saw your comment.
Anyway when I saw the trailer I thought: "wait, are the humans going to start getting dismembered too?"

I don't think there is any alien weapon as of now, which can gib the humans. The only new thing, that COULD do it, are the babblers, but they are way too tiny for doing so. ;)

Maybe It would be a good idea to ask for a comparison. I play games like Half-life 2 , Team fortress 2 and TES Skyrim, so how does the gory-ness of NS2 compare to these games?

Well, I would sort this three games, considering the amount of "gory-ness" (I actually like that word!), in the following order of decreasing blood, gibs and overall violence:

1) Skyrim: Decently realistic animation of cut off body parts, burning corpses and the possibility of major bloodbaths.

2) Team Fortress 2: Much violance with bodies exploding into gibs, blood fountains after a successful headshot, pathetic death screams... but all in a cartoonish way and therefore more funny then actually gross.

3) Half Life 2: No more flying body parts except for the "Ravenholm Zombie Trap" part but still manipulable ragdolls. Mediocre amount of blood and burned corpses.

Overall, I would compare Natural Selection's gory-ness factor pretty much with the amount presented in Half Life 2. Maybe even a little less, cause there aren't either ragdolls or burned corpses, although you can set aliens on fire with the flamethrower. Gibs are also only produced by railgun wielding exos popping aliens. Furthermore both games got basically the same amount of blood, though in NS2 it is only a cosmetic hit registration effect and doesn't actually stay on the target itself or even surfaces.

I hope, that helped clarifing. ;) But since you also play Skyrim, I guess you won't be offended by NS2.

Ok thanks for the info, definatley going to buy it (btw latest update said blood will be on surfaces, though, and I never saw anything more than decapitation in skyrim)

There is blood on walls. Aliens and Mariens. Its a great game. Barely any blood.

Hmm, no blood on walls for me. Maybe due to decals being turned off in the graphic options. So if the blood splatter might disturb you, now you know a way to get rid of it. :D
