Any one else think Vote Concede takes the fun out of games?
Ever since the new vote concede option has been implemented, it feels like games end prematurely. Just the other day, marines conceded because they lost a chair. They still had 3-4 extractors and shottys. Those shottys would have dealed so much damage and would have been a real turn around, but instead they conceded.
Not to mention the fact that its so hard to win a game as marines, but when aliens concede, it really takes the joy and sense of accomplishment out of the marine victory. Its no longer a message on the screen saying "Marine Victory" its more of a kick-in-the-balls because we couldnt get that sense of pride when someone shoots down the final hive. Instead... We get a simple message saying "You won"... Thats nothing compared to what it feels like when you personally shoot down the last hive. That message that pops up because of a concede is nothing, and it is not worth the amount of teamwork, suspense and tension marines put into the game inorder to win. If marines win a pub game, they DESERVE IT. The amount of teamwork required in a pub game is huge, and they deserve an ACTUAL victory. Not some concede because aliens didnt want to last the remainder 5 minutes. Aliens should not be able to concede because they lost a tech point and 3 onos.
The same could be said for aliens. A marine turtle is so hard to break through, and if aliens manage to do it, they deserve to have that victory.
Sure people say stuff like "You are just turtling, hurry up and end the game so we can start another" Has it ever occured to those people that the reason why we turtle is because theres still a chance? Ninja phase gates for marines can be real turnovers, and those 60 minute games are the REAL fun and enjoyable games. The sweat and blood we give up defending our final base from the alien scum is the real fun stuff, and is the reason why I enjoy long games. On the flip-side, all it takes for the aliens is a single fade, or a single onos to turn the game back around for the aliens.
Vote Concede was a good idea, but the fact that people abuse it to the point where it makes games unenjoyable.... It turns out it wasnt a good idea after all.

before concede people would just f4 to ready room. If anything concede has helped prolong the game rather than end prematurely. Personally, I dont see anything wrong with conceding if you have reached the point of no return. I would welcome it. I would prefer if the game momentum was moving rather than getting bogged down with annoyingly boring turtling. I dont share the notion of handing victory to the enemy simply because it was deserved. Nothing is deserved.

Wall of text? God forbid you ever read a book, a newspaper, or anything larger than a text message on a phone.

I completely agree. Ever since the addition of Concede, I've seen many games ended far before they should have, and it saps a lot of fun or the aforementioned sense of accomplishment out of the game. On numerous occasions, I've seen Marines concede immediately at the sight of the first Onos, despite the fact that they still had more than enough means to take it down, in varying cases, such as two bases or adequate tech like shotguns, jetpacks or a mix thereof.

The Aliens too, have conceded when the Marines push their early advantage and establish a phase gate in both Elevator and Repair on the map Tram. Its ridiculous. People dont seem to bother working for a victory anymore and give up at the first sign of hardship or a setback.

Whilst some may disagree, I do have fun enduring those 15 - 30 minute sieges when the Marines are locked into their primary base and surrounded on both sides. Heck, in one game, we fought on, held for a whole hour, then managed to actually push back and win, on Veil.

I'll repeat myself. Conceding is like saying "gg" in StarCraft. You know the game is over and instead of dragging it out for another 10-20 minutes and losing anyway, have the decency to surrender and start another game. Have fun instead of boring everyone to tears.

Just because some players are wimps that surrender before they really lose the chance of winning doesn't mean developers should take out they ability to concede altogether.

The problem is not the concede function, the problem is that you find yourself in the position of conceeding. They devs should add game mechanics that help a team to make a comeback. Instead the winner can be guessed after 4~5 minutes of play. That is the real problem, once a team has an advantage, this is a slow death for the opponent.

There is no decency in surrendering, private. FIGHT TO THE DEATH!

I don't concede until I know for sure, FOR SURE, all is lost.

Last night I was alien comm on Summit, and we started Sub Access. Marines started Atrium. It was a brutal first 4-5 minutes where the marines managed to get a phase gate in every other tech point and we were down to just 1-2 harvesters. I told my team to try and sneak to reactor, every single alien, and go eat that command chair.

And my aliens did just that. And the marines didn't have a 2nd chair. GG.

I always try to convince my team to put up and epic last push. No matter what. If it it fails, then concede. But it can often turn the tides.

On pub servers I think especially marines give up too easily. Oni go down surprisingly fast with w2 and w3 when there are 3 or more marines firing at it.

I like that last stand attitude @djgilliganmiller and @Venrez, exactly that's really enjoyable, instead of winning games in a basic structured way.

And that's the key problem i see with concede voting like this, people just get stepped over, just 5 votes are necessary, not everyone is asked... and it tends to cater towards those who don't like to play outside of their comfort zone, while those who openly play the game are comfortable with everything the game puts up infront of them.

Ns1 didn't have concede voting btw, people would just leave the battlefield so to speak and that was it, which is deserting by definition and they should be hung by their feet for that, but it does not corrupt the rest who wants to play on.

Solution: Hardcore servers without concede voting (it's embarassing, but it looks like something like playing something to the end is considered hardcore nowadays).

While last stand marine can be fun if your Com knows how to Turtle, last stand alien is one of the least enjoyable parts of the game. You're basically going to get egglocked and then arc/exo-ed for the most part or have a pack of JPSG flying around camping you as you spawn.

If your Marine com doesn't turtle (well or at all), then Last Stand Marine sucks. I agree with sublime overall though. There are times you know you're boned. Why drag it on? Down to 2 RTs and the enemy coming with top tier units from all sides? Or 90% of your team can't shoot/bite well? Your Gorges either spitting or babbler egging rather than biling? No one welds? *sigh*

yeah its true concede takes away alot of fun ±D but the NS2 matches are failing hard atm ±D 4/5 min matches just suck today i had my first long match again in weeks there should be an update that there is a chance to get comebacks mostly now if a team is losing its an concede they dont even have the will to fight back again and find a way to make an comeback like in NS1 a match could take hours if ppl kept fighting.

But ok i know NS1 ist NS2 but i hope they will try to change some dynamics of the game bec NS1 was alot more fun then NS2 in my oppinion.
