Compiling Shaders for First Run... everytime.
The last 3 times I've played this game NS2 has needed to compile the shaders again, takes 15 minutes to load a map everytime I want to play. Any fixes?

It does this every time you start up the game. So keep the game always on or get a better computer. My desktop loads it up fast, my laptop no more than a couple of minutes.

No, compiling shader is only suppose to happen the first time everytime the game gets patched. Check the UWE technical support forums for other people with this issue. iirc they had to delete the stuff in the cache folder and let it compile again.

Yeah once per update (30 sec or so for me). Then it compiles for 1 sec before precache I think. Its too fast I can't see it. But for the OP no idea why it should take 15 minutes.

Try turning off Vsync. I have no idea why it causes the issue, but I had the same problem and someone suggested I turn off Vsync--now I load almost instantly.

And I have a really good computer. i5-3570k @ 4.2 & GTX 670

Yeah once per update not once everytime you start the game up like you said earlier, lol @ keep the game always on.

The reason it has had to recompile the shaders the last 3 times you played the game, is because the developers are releasing update patches faster than no other developer, ever.

Don't worry, once the devs get tired and goes home for the day, the updates stop coming. And you won't be having to wait that long everytime... until the developers decide it's time to get back to work again.

Are you praising the devs for not testing their work and pushing beta-level updates onto unsuspecting players? For releasing hotfixes to hotfixes? Breaking two things while fixing one? Seriously?

As playtesters, we do try to catch all these snafus, but as per the original Half-Life game, sometimes there are "Unforseen Consequences" where one bugfix can affect (aka completely bugger up) something else :-}
