Player base
Is this game dying? Or is the 2,000 people player base a dedicated community?

It's fairly solid at 2,000 give or take 500 players.

Not sure why 1/17/2013 had such a massive drop, but people on the game daily is roughly 2,000 and holding.

the game is picking up players more and more.
me and my friends got fed up with the mainstream FPS games , and this game is something new and fun , being able to ambush players or getting scared to death from an ambush is tottaly worth it , check out my play time , i got it like 2-3 month ago

Seems addicting! Does it ever get stale for you?

IF it gets stale, check out the modded servers! Forsaken is nice (even though its alpha: kinda like AVPs marines vs aliens, no respawn for marines!) or combat which takes away commanders and gives leveling (no metaleveling).

The playerbase has been holding pretty steady, but its not uncommon for playercounts to drop in between major events, like steam sales and big content updates. There is a big content update planned for mid/late February, with a new map, lots of fun new Gorge abilities, a railgun for the Exo, and some other stuff, so that will probably reinvigorate the player base.

Yea it's falling to pre Christmas state. I'm guessing the content patch will increase it a bit next month and then it'll fall into a cycle depending on content patches but I do not think it will increase like those sales made it.

In any case 238 ruined my performance so I am taking off until it is fixed. Even 236 lowered performance a bit which came out on 1/16/2013 but it was not too much to enrage me. So here I am thinking "Ah good a maintenance patch, this will definitely fix what 236 borked.” And bam lost way more framerates in 238 on top of what was not fixed in 236. So I find myself playing less when I get frustrated about the performance. I have no idea how they broke something that was perfectly fine. I actually cannot believe I was complaining about past performance when it just got a whole lot worse. It’s not a matter of me asking for optimizations anymore. Now I just want everything to be rolled back. And the thing is they probably messed it up trying to make optimizations which did not turn out so well. Even so game probably will not die as even before it kept around 1.5k players.

If you ever do any programming you can se how removing one bug will sometimes produce two new bugs :)

Marq, something snuck into build 238 that dropped performance a lot, but we put out a hotfix, which should have sorted it out. You should try out build 239.

Yea I noticed thanks I can play again. But it's still it it's 236 state so I am still losing around 10 frames compared to the crazy loss earlier. I know it probably will not be addressed but was the cause infestation? It's all weird and blocky now. Will that ever be fixed? Will I ever see the framerate I saw in the glorious 235 build? Pls piggu Cory I'm begging you

This is what I mean

I bought it during the sale and been playing since then, I've never had trouble finding a server and playing with others. I have noticed that even randomly picking servers I do see familar names which I personally find to be a good thing.
