Ezekels commander addition thoughts
Hey, here are some things I think should be added to the commander side of the game!

1) A build queue, so you can build three drifters, but instead of waiting for one to be complete, click it 3x and after one is built the next goes on the way, same with everything else you're doing so it will go in queue order, a queue that hasn't started yet can be canceled. Same for an unbuilt hive, select it to be crag and it will immediately become a crag as soon as it is built and etc.

2) A follow for drifters/macs

3) A Rotation for drifters/macs (go in x area in circle)

4) Make drifters more visible to the commander

5) Show the commander what upgrades he does and doesn't have yet

These are just a few and I may update as I go along, hopefully someone from the dev team reads these from time to time. Let me know what you think, and post some of your own ideas.

I would like to add that the commander should be able to tilt and rotate the camera, for a better view of the battlefield.

This, is not really technically feasible, unless you put a tremendous amount of work on the mapper to make it work.

Things that are in rooms, such as rafters and what not, would end up obscuring your view.

As for the OP's suggestions, they are perfect suggestions and I think they should be implemented as well, especially the first 2 suggestions.

It is feasible, as it is now there are objects that obstruct my view in certain areas, and it would be beneficial to be able to adjust the view to be able to see all aspects of the map. Most RTS games allow for you to tilt, pan and rotate the camera to get a better view, I don't see any reason why this game shouldn't have those features for the commander position.

I guess you have to have some mapping/development experience to really understand why it is not really feasible technically for this type of a game.

All other RTS games do not have to deal with 3D sky boxes, multi-walled rooms with ceilings let alone rafters/etc on the ceilings, occlusion culling and etc, just to name a couple things.

EDIT: I guess I should rephrase and shouldn't say it's not feasible, but should say it's not practical because of the constraints it would have on mappers to make sure nothing obscured the comms view. Pretty much every room would have to be boxes with very little on the ceilings or other areas and you wouldn't be able to say have pillars inside a room without obscuring comms view when they tilted and zoomed.

Would make the commanding too easy, you wouldn't have to do much. Commander is fun because you have to keep track of both what you are building, what your team is doing, and at the same time expand and move around drifters and macs. If they added build queues I'd stop being commander for sure. It's good as it is now.

I would add the following suggestion to your list:

6) Have a button that locks mouse to moving the camera, maybe right mouse button as default, holding that button makes your mouse move your screen rather than your cursor.
