Crash, crash and crash?
Hey, I purchased this game yesterday and have launched it a bunch of times but noticed that it has a hard time starting up? It just stays on black screen or just gives an error.. It sometimes makes my computer just crash when I try to exit the game from the menu's. It does start up now and then, I would say about 1 out of 4 times.

I run windows 7, x64. What to do? Or is it a common problem.

"The engine is in a state from which it can not recover. Restart the application to continue."
5 out of 5 now. I see the screen going black, then flickering once to a lighter color and back, then I hear the sound like when you disconnect a headset or USB stick, and then I get the error.

I actually found that it's a problem when using multiple monitors? Or in my case, having more than one actually plugged in.

Thanks!

Hmmm, Don't know, I have this problem after every update, need to launch the game some 3-4 times, but I don't have a problem after that. I do not however run two monitors :P

I'm not too sure. I'm also in Win 7 x64. I don't have any problems loading the game, but it has a tendency to crash in-game at around 20 - 30 minutes.

My only guess is to update your video drivers. But the game does have performance issues, nonetheless. It could very well be something else.

Hrm. That doesn't sound like the standard "compiling shaders" pseudo-crash.

Drivers and all that should probably be checked.

Here's what IronHorse (big on the tech support UWE forum) says to do when NS2 crashes:

"If NS2 crashes, do not close any windows, even if its a black screen or error. Navigate to your NS2 install folder and run techsupport.exe. This will make a large dump file that you can then upload to somewhere online (like Drop box) and provide a link to it in here or to a dev. This dump file is the fastest, most accurate method to catch a crash!"

After doing that, I suggest heading to the UWE forum[forums.unknownworlds.com] and starting a thread for tech support.

Ah, I never noticed that little .exe. I'll be making ample use of it in the coming week to help give a full report. Maybe they'll see something that's consistently causing the problem on my end.

Got my first crash ever.

Running Win 7 64bit. Game just locked up. Got a generic "NS2.exe has stopped working" message after I alt tabbed to desktop.
