What's Different from 249-258?

Performance wise. Are we back yet? say for up to 10v10s, or 8v8s...

I'm kinda iffly on redownloading/installing.

Performance is pretty much back to where it was before. Should only get better from here since they can now use DX11 and OGL, both of which still have room for improvement.

Load times are probably the fastest they've ever been from my experience.

Can't really tell how it'll go for you for sure because it's rig dependent.

That's pretty bold "where it was before"... as far as the rig. it's a 3750K (i5cpu) corsiar 2 x 4g (ram) Nvidia 560 (graphics) 120g SSD (storage) : I'm set for a bit. Up the graphics later but no rush. I doubt there's any issues from this rig. I'm well over the needed machine for how I use a cpu... I hate things running when I'm not using them, just for example. I'll ponder some more though, Still cracking out on some single player atm.

Eh, about as bold as claiming that 249 was some kind of holy grail.

Frames in the current patch on my midrange rig (AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.41 ghz, 4GB GTX 460, 8GB dual-channel DDR3 @ 1333 running of a 1TB standard drive @ 7200RPM) on DX9 rendering on 1280x1024, medium textures, rich infestation, everything else off/low except reflections, shadows and texture streaming is pretty much back to where it was in 249(80-ish FPS for the most part, with dips to around 50 in heavier combat) except maps load several orders of magnitude faster.

Went from around a minute and a half first load and 30-40 seconds in subsequent loads in previous patches to 40-ish first load and 10-15 seconds for subsequent loads. Pretty substantial improvement.

I even whipped my phone out to record it. Look how fast loading shaders goes.

That's a HUGE difference from my older rig which would take at times 3 minutes to pull that off pre-258. 258 dropped that down to about 60~90 seconds, but my current rig utterly demolishes load times.

Like Hobo said, it's largely rig dependent.

It's also server dependant. Servers with no consistency checking will load roughly 200% faster.

My game still decides to do 'first time loading' everytime! I can get into a sandbox map in 18 seconds easily, just not on servers. Performance is good at the moment, I find that there's no difference when running high or low textures, but turning off shadows can give you as much as 15-20 FPS in some circumstances.

Could someone explain to me what texture streaming is and whether I should have it on or off?
