So many bad Threads about Performance so take this Good performance on old and new rig
My old rig nvidia 260gtx 896 mb vram , 8gb ram ( 800mhz ) and a very old Amd phenom x4 840 3,2 ghz good fps nearly max settings ( win8 and 7 tested 64bit )

Around 40 fps

new system

Nvidia 760 2gb oc windforce gigabyte , intel i5 4670 3,4-3,8 ghz , 8gb 1600 mhz ddr3 ,

win8 tested 64bit ( not 8.1 )

80+fps

my av is Panda cloud antivir and my fw is Comodo firewall ( because of ultra low recource usage both )

my Conclusion is Update all driver to the max , dont use "tuning softwares" ( i dont mean oc ) and dont install any ♥♥♥♥ on a gaming rig

well 40 fps doesnt seem very good to me, especially above the recommended settings.

Saying the truth about perfs, that's all. I'm still laughing about these i5 which can't run the game properly ;)

i got an i5 4670 now runs perfectly 80+ fps as you see in my top post

I got an I5 to and i run on smooth 80 to 100 fps now with all on high only shadows are off AO on medium so i dont know why the performance of the game is bad 80/100 fps is fine for me to play.
Brian aKa TheGrimReaperNLD 7 nov 2013 om 3:27vm
BTW Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) runs the game smooth like hell for me,so i would advice for all I5 users to check there drivers then bec 80 to 100 fps is good to run the game.
on low settings i have 150+ fps but i dont like to play on low settings it looks worse then the old NS on low setttings lol.

You are on windows, they have optimized the game recent weeks a lot for windows.
Also WHERE did you get 80+ fps? late game combat? i dont think so. the lobby room doesnt count.

Entire game ( AVG because fps never stays right at a number )

In lobby room 100+ easily

Early game easly 80+

Medium - end game avg 80 ( 70-90 )

i have comparable cpu/gpu , more ram and lower FPS. yet i am on linux i have heard some ppl say the performance is much better on windows compared to linux. they really need to optimize the game for linux now :/

But do you have to run the game at 800x600 with everything low/off? See I have a q6600 4gigs of average ram and geforce 440. My performance isn't consistant enough to state that I even get 40 fps. In fact it's 20 in worst cases. On top of the lew res too servers with giant MotDs take up a 3rd of my screen. The commanding GUI takes up half.

probalby playing with worst resolution
McCheese 7 nov 2013 om 6:03nm
i found in the past resolution had little effect on cpu bottlenecked systems (as one of the main sources of fps drop is the game logic ) It would probably be your video card that is to blame if resolution does have this kind of effect.

i have a q6600 overclocked at 3.2 and i would get from 50-60 fps in the start of round, then it would drop to 30 later in the game in crowded rooms, which IMO was not fun to play. While 50-60 is basically playable, the biggest problem for me was the variance in fps. going from 60-30 depending on the number of people around made for a crumby experience for me, as it led to choppy graphics which totally ruins twitch gameplay.

Also, IMO how the game plays on 3.5+ ghz i5/i7 is kinda irrelevant. They are close to top of the line processors these days (the ones that can be overclocked to 4ghz + even more so) and far above the recommended specs. If these kinds of machines COULDNT run the game at a stable high fps, there would definitely be a problem (which used to be the case, but not so much anymore)

ps. your fps in the ready room/lobby means nothing

From my own personal experience, I find that graphic cards aren't the problem. I was playing this on a 9800 GTX+, moved to a GTX 560 and saw a grand total of 1~3 more frames to around 35~40 FPS. Same graphical settings, same 2.98 Core 2 Dual. I wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't running R_stats 1.

Went from the Core 2 Dual to an i5 4670k and I went a massive 130 FPS up, same graphics card, and higher graphical settings.

To me, that says the game is extremely CPU bound.

Sadly, I've come to the conclusion the only real way to get solid late game frames is to buy a high end processor.
