CRASH ON FIRST TIME OPTIMIZATION

Whenever I try to optimize natural selection 2 the game just freezes for a few minutes and then exits to the desktop.

Optimization simply complies the shaders so you don't have to do it on the map loading screen. What happens if you skip optimization?

it baically simulates connecting ot a server, this cuases comilation of your shaders to occur. however there is not any real reason you need to do it. the only down side to not doing it is that your fist connection to a server will be pretty slow.

The game works; it just crashes when I try to optimize it or play the tutorial.

that is super wierd. However , im sticking with if aint broke dont fix it. Dont worry too mucha bout the tutorial and after you get in the game there should be no reason to run the optimization.

Just in case though, Is there anythgin in your log? its in %appdata%/Natural Selection 2/log.txt
