In a way, an evenly based match is an arms race. Who can get the bigger guns, and the bigger lifeforms first? That totally depends on their resource generation, not the kills. Someone who is 25 kills and 4 deaths doesn't mean anything if you only have two harvesters :)
The best games are the back and forth ones, where each team is constantly battling for one room or area, and even if you might win one engagement and put up a base, it doesn't always take a whole lot to take it right down and sway the match the other way :)
That makes sense now.. i believe we lost a base and it went downhill from there.. even though we had the bigger guns lol
Thanks
Not a problem! If you have any other questions feel free to ask! I think this will be a great thread for it.
But I do have one question . . . what's the point of even including the K/D ratio? It seems like it reward the people who go for the killing machines rather than the lowly healers.
Tech levesl and territory control. Both can change on the dime if you pull off the right attack.
It actually doesn't matter too much which one you try first but marines are probably slightly easy to start with due to their relation with other FPS. Both sides have an insanely high skillcap and learning curve though. Aliens require amazing reflexes, insight and intuition, movement and precision while marines rely on perfect positioning, aggression and aim.
Anyone want a newb following him and trying to do exactly as he's being told?
Personally, i've never had issues with fps on a okay system (was an amd phenom II x4 @3.2ghz and 560ti.... now it's more powerful) and i ran on maxed settings around 40fps at all times.
They have made a LOT of strides in performance overall though, yes.
I'm always down to play! I'm not a pro, but I know -how- to play and shoot well. I'm more of a marine player than an alien, but I'm down for both, whichever you'd like to learn a little more.
Personally, I started out marines first. But once I got the idea of the game and what each building was, i played a good amount of aliens so I could really get a feel for what was possible with alien movement and what wasn't. I'm primarily a marine player, but it helps to know what good hiding spots are as skulks, the best way to try and avoid a skulk bite, and etc which I learned by playing aliens for some time. That's up to you, though :)
The game puts the shooting on the forefront with a strategy element as an important part of the game, but less so in your face. Obviously I've had games where one person will go 36-4 and loses, alternatively i've had games where our entire team is doing poorly score wise and it shows strategically because we can't hold any portion of the map. It's as team focused, if not more so that League and Dota because you will almost NEVER carry a game by yourself. In dota, and league, you can alwa
ys do really really well as a carry bottom or be a strong jungle to sway a game in your favor. In this game, you've got to have team mates on you... you aren't going to take out a room of aliens by yourself, and even if you do, you won't hold it by yourself with out some support.
It's really one of those where you look at it at a glance and think, that's just stupid, that can't work. Then you have a really really good game, and you just smile to yourself after a long win or a well fought loss.
