Here's the real skinny... (Stay Away)
Sorry if some of you fanboi's and Vet's don't like what you hear but it's the truth.

The game is mostly filled with people that have been playing for a long time and they have little to no patience for anyone new to the game. One mistake and your gonna hear nothing but ♥♥♥♥. AND what's worse, this is usually coming from people who won't step up and take command themselves so you sit in lobbies half the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ time waiting for people to take command.

That's when you get on a decent server. Yea, there are servers depending on what time of day you play. Half the time they're either totally full or completely empty though, and then GL on finding one in-between that's "Rookie friendly".

You're going to hear a dozen people on here say "how nice they are" and "how much they're willing to help you out"; sorry, but for every one of them, there's 10 d*ouchbags in the game.

There is a higher learning curve than the "average" shooter and sorry, the tutorials are ♥♥♥♥. If you DO take the plunge, go watch some youtube videos. Despite the fact that the "Vets" all know this, and you're flagged as a noob, you're still going to catch hell.

I only paid $7.49 for this game and it was a waste of ♥♥♥♥ing money. I read JUST like everyone is doing now how great the game and community was/is. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'd go play League of Legends if I wanted the in-game whining I heard. After about a dozen hours and multiple servers, I said I'm done. I found 1 server (a British one iirc) to ever be even remotely friendly.

**Edit - Oh, and for those that are just gonna use the excuse that I was just bad and butthurt... I was always consistantly at least half way up on the leaderboard, so for a "rookie" barely knowing what they were doing, I was doing just fine. Some pretty sad Vets honestly.

Well since a game can take up to 45 minutes to finish sometimes and one mistake can make your team lose I think those "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s" have their own excuse to be mad. Besides, this isn't an average shooter. This is more like a fps-dota game.

What made you think the people on the lower half of the scoreboard were 'vets'?

What made you think the people on the lower half of the scoreboard were any good?

What makes you think the scoreboard means a damn?

Then why are there constantly "Pro's" playing on Rookie friendly servers then ♥♥♥♥♥ing about Rookies? Are they to scared or crapy to play on a real server? Guess you're a perfect player every match... glad you don't make mistakes in those 45 minute long matches...

You're just re-enforcing my point.

I'm not mad, or saying I want my money back or trying to hate... I just want people to know what they're "really" going to be dealing with. Not the sugar coated BS people try to throw out to get people to buy games to inflate the population. Games like this need a constant influx of people to stay alive.

UWE really needs to make better tutorials and implement an ELO ranking system ASAP.

As a NS1 and NS2 vet I completely agree with the OP on the issues with very talented players playing on rookie servers and veterans scolding at the rookies.

The developer needs to realize the obvious skill gap which is leading to pub stomping and flagrant criticism of new players in the game. It’s pretty obvious why they separate bronze and silver level players from platinum and master level players in CSGO and SC2.

On the issue of not having enough players to separate players into groups, there should at least be a balance system so an even number of rookies, average, skilled, semi pro, and pro players are on each side.

Uhhh ... I have the feeling that you jumped in a '' white server '' ( The '' pro '' ones ) got flamed , and now you think the entire community is like that . I bought the game , and never got flamed , everybody was really friendly to me . Just don't get in the white servers , cuz they're pro servers and they're really competitive . Get in the '' Green '' servers .

just bought the game and will try. played the ns mod a lot, looks similar. to the op everybody started as a newb.
if some people feel better complaining about you, let them. they have a reason to so either ignore them or ask them to help you. quit playing because you have to learn new basics is silly.
not every game is cod (nor should be)

Make sure you aren't on white servers and try playing on a noob-only servers or UWE official. There are admins on the noob-only servers that remove people that are obviously too experienced. I recommend you try your game out there, people are a lot more forgiving and willing to help.

You can also play on combat servers which nobody cares who wins or loses, it's a lot more casual but they do tend to attract some experienced players so be warned. You can at least practice playing different classes without fear of losing them.

I agree that all it takes is just one experienced player to ruin an entire game. As an experienced player myself, it's really frustrating seeing these types of people just abusing the skillgap between rookie-normal player.

dont listen to this guy people, im still new and i love this game. ive had it for a few months since the summer sale and sure, its full of vets who have played it a ton but theyre not total a-holes. of course they get frusterated when i dont know what im doing but they dont vent their anger at me, the most ive heard was sighs and " oh great, now etc is defenseless"
The OP just sounds like they get butt hurt easily.
I have had a ton of fun the times i played!

Noob Only servers do benefit quite greatly from experienced players in spectate giving suggestions. I think they should only tell people what they can see on their own, like "FYI alien team go help your teammate in (location)" or "Hey Marines, phasegate being attacked in (location)" or "(user) go for the extractor over the power." New players frankly no idea what they're doing and having experienced players in the peanut gallery giving hints really helps them learn.
