Is this game worth it ?

i know its a bit silly to ask this here, but again, i cant afford to just buy it for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggle (tight budget).
so im wondering about stuff like :
#1 : is it a stable game ?
#2 : is there a lot of games ? (nobody like switing long times or getting half-filled servers)
#3 : how "cheap" is the gameplay right now ?
--#3.a : is there a lot of cheap ♥♥♥holes ?
--#3.b : is there a lot of OP combinations/stuff ?
#4 : how friendly and fairplay is the community ?

i think you see where im going by now. it still looks like an interesting game so i hope you guys got good stuff to say about it (dont shy from pointing out the cons either)

Fun game worth the $$$ in my opinon, very rewarding but very hard game to get a grip of. The theory is simple but putting it into practice is the hard bit when fighting.

Game is stable for me, got a pretty balanced FPS.
There's plenty of servers if that's what you mean and they're populated
Not sure what you mean by cheap gameplay, feels and plays very solid.
Cheap ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... hmm, not sure how that applies to this game except if someone picks up a gun you dropped after you died and won't give it back, that applies to almost everyone.
No combination of lifeforms and upgrades or weapons and equipment can be considered OP, the players wielding said equipment are what determines how well it works.
The community is pretty friendly if you're in the right servers, just don't do something overly rude or stupid like commanding without even doing a tutorial first.

I have 190+ hours of gameplay and I wouldn't call myself great at NS2.

Yeah, more than most.

A lot of people are playing, a lot of servers. Though the loading time between maps is a pain and longggg.

Well honestly, this game is hard to play. Sharp learning curves plus angry gamers and really hard to master combat system.
But I say right now the alien and marine team are fairly good. But the shuffling system that randomized players is broken. 7 out of 10 games I played, the teams are always stacked.

#4 : how friendly and fairplay is the community ?
Hmmmm depends. I met some friendly people but I feel like a lot of people are just angry. Especially people who think they know more than other people. The kind of annoying people that goes "COM Give me a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jet pack and a grenade launcher and I'll end this game. You all are a bunch of useless noobs". OR in the case of angry commander "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell I can't do anything. You guys CAN'T hold a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ res node and you expect miracles. You come here and shoot like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and run like idiots. ♥♥♥♥ this. Do what you want."

:) Doesn't matter in a rookie friendly or rookie free server, these kind of ridicule and verbal abuse is quite common.

Tips to angry commanders/players: Change your strategy depending on your own team and your enemy team. A good team, you can rush and build and get most of the map. With a newbie team, well, yelling won't help. Try to relax, don't take the game so seriously. For me, a game is about having fun, not so much as scoring points or win. Winning is fun but so is just playing a good match even if ultimately your team looses.

If you're not into competitive first person shooters then skip it, judging by your game list this game wouldn't be for you at all

Plus you have a tight budget, which means you probably don't have a high-end rig which this game requires

1. Yeah it's pretty stable on the side of bugs and all that but sort of unstable by means of optimization. It's definitely a lot faster than it was when I played the game on Day 1 of release, but make sure your PC is good enough.

2. There's a lot of full servers and a lot of half-full servers but if you wait (i know you said you don't like it) like 1 minutes and constantly check each full server listed you will actually get into a full server pretty quickly.

3. The game is really well balanced but only if you make it balanced. See, the game is actually kind of hard to get a hang of and in this case if you are in a team of decent people pit against a team of pros, you will have the pros knocking on your Main base and harassing you to no end, so for once I will recommend you do some research on how people play and play practice mode when you get the game. The game can be your best friend, but it can be brutal if you and your team let it. The teams in this game are rarely based on one person, so if your team is dying and they blame you, it isn't your fault, it's the whole team's fault. Unless you are Commanding and have no clue how to do so, then it's permitted. :P

3b. Yeah there are some pretty cheap combos but there are also so many combos to counteract them. Like a Jetpack marine with a Grenade launcher. He's really deadly but a Lerk (flying alien) can easily chase him down and kill him. You just kind of have to decide what can counter what.



4. I myself am not very friendly, but only when Rookies are completely oblivious to everything. You don't have to be good at the game, but you need to use common sense. If you at least try to understand what is going on, like how you need to place Resource towers down, then you will do fine, as most people in this game ATM are indeed noobs or at least have less than 75 hours. Also, TF2's second mention about the Commander isn't right. The game really is based on team and if a Commander can't get his team to do anything, then he has a right to be angry, because that only means no one is trying. People running away is usually the prime cause of losing a game. Like a group of aliens could be attacking a few marines and the marines succeed but they have really low health that could be taken out in a Bite. From my experience, I actually watched and understood they are weak, but when I run into that door to kill them my teammates run away because they see bullets. It's rediculous.

As a point of advice, always play aggressive, but be nice about it. Don't do stupid ♥♥♥♥ like T-bag, don't whine when you lose (ina suprising majority of cases it's fun to lose), and just use common sense.

On another note, I strongly recommend this game to anyone. It's one of my favorite games and i've been playing it since release. In the 90+ hours i've played it, not one thing about it is stale yet. I would have so many more hours if I was able to play it very well the first few months. The game is so much fun, and they give you just a little bit of badassery (Higher lifeforms or Exoskeleton) and take it away quickly so that you are sitting there begging for more.

I'm going to go play it right now.

1)Connecting to server (not finding - connecting) can take 1-3 minutes. No serious bugs like hangs up or dropping encountered by me for now.
2)If you speak Eng ok, there'll be plenty of servers both full and half full.
3-4) To find good server you may want to jump 3-4 of them just cause some'll have extremely green players or have several bada-ses that 'll wipe floor with oposit team with no chance over and over (sometimes with nice chunk of bm, laughter, and insults).
As said before - each combination can be countered, yet... there's some "awesome" stuff like flying shotguner->double minigun exo or skillywhilly lerk->fade that in hands of mr.Awesome 'll r--e every single one casual player (100+- hr 'll not help, just increase desperation ;) ) and ruin server.
Or one side 'll have Ok com and other will not :P

Such streaks can last for 3-4 days in a row feeding you with blatantly onesided games. After some time (50hr~) you'll be able to recognise such days quick and don't waist nerves for nothing. (also, there'll be more suitable games for you'r skill allready)

If you'll overcome such "black rows" and find good sets, game is awesome and lot of fun.

I play this game just fine on 6 year old hardware, no reason you couldnt play it on a system you build for less than $1k
