The rest of my friends don’t play because the skill ceiling is too high for an FPS, the keybindings suck for commanding for RTS fans, the skill ceiling is too low for RTS fans (macro and micro for comm), and there is no matchmaking system and a lot of pubstomping or stacking, which is why me and my friends stopped playing L4D2 and SC2 custom games.
I’m the only one out of my 25 friends who owns NS2 and still plays. My friends moved on to Planetary Annihilation, Rust, and Day Z :(
NS2 is old in today’s game market and no longer “hot” which is why UWE is making this http://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/
All the tools are there, but with the difficulty to using it once you master it you can be real scary with medpacks/drifters.
I can run the game but the loading times just kills my patience. It can take from 1 minute to 2.I searched a bit and i found that a lot of players have this issue and the game requires a fast hard disk or those expensive solid state disks.
If it was one or the other only there probably wouldn't be a problem, but when you combine them I can understand why the population is so low and why people drop the game right after sales.
And the 9510 players peak is probably humble bundle, it drops right back to 2000 after that :c so nobody from humble liked it D:
The game is extremely CPU intensive and most people who want to PC game can't afford a good CPU.
I have a pretty budget PC that can play almost anything I throw at it, but only if the game is optimized enough. My GPU is amazing, I got 8gb ddr3 ram, and 1gb of Vram, but my CPU is just not very good and bottlenecks it.
But I also can't afford a good CPU or another Motherboard to actually use a good CPU.
Best I can get for my PC is a FM1 A8 processor, which while better, will still bottleneck me.
Tl;dr not many people can play it.
I run it at 28-39 fps but my game is really stuttery for some reason.
I'm not willing to lower my settings, especially because it's even worse stutter-wise, so i'm stuck with a good looking game that kind of lags. My FPS also affects my Alien-playing too. I'll jump around a corner or be moving really fast and I die after i'm clear around the corner.
Of course this could be all those cheaters with no-recoil mods or auto-aim.
Or both.
You do realize there are probably only a handful of cheaters in the entire game right? No recoil? There is no recoil in this game by default o.O
Dying around the corner is a symptom of how the game engine handles players' position while playing online. (Interpolation, Source uses it aswell)
The game is spread based if you know how the spread works and you aim at the actual model you will hit the target. As for dying around the corner that's because the game handles hitdection on the client side. If you hit someone in your game client they get hit on the server it just takes awhile for the server to caught up. You just have to assume that if a marine can see you that he can hit you and evade accordingly. If you wait for hit indicators then you've already been shot and are going to take more damage. TLDR; damage is applied a little while after being hit.
I seriously dobut it's 65,000...well now anyways. I suspect given the fact that average player cocurrent is about 950 to 2,000 that the active player base is more likely around 10,000 to 15,000 tops.
How do you get more stuttering with lower settings? That makes no sense.
