What do you do to practice aiming?
I need a way to train to kill those celerity lurks.

get a friend, start a sandbox game, build in ballcourt an armory. buy a shotgun, and give your friend a skulk with leap. turn your back to your friend. Your friend needs than to use leap, you turn around and try to hit him midair with that shotgun. The start sign for your turning is the sound of his leap.

If you can do this, lerks will be easy to kill for you.

Play combat.

Yeah when people play combat, most aliens play lerks, good way to improve aim.

Play against really good players.

Playing games like COD, Scout in TF2 or something alike can improve your mouse dexterity.

With marines what you want (in my experience) is a low ping and dexterity with the mouse.

Quake was also recommended to me.

If you are practicing with Quake, I highly recommend to practice with the railgun. Im pretty good with a rocket launcher than with a railgun... too bad we cant have rocket propelled grenades.

turn off mouse aceleration
Jackson Jan 6 @ 6:30pm
Always turn off mouse acceleration, get a proper mouse sensitivity (for example, try to get your mouse to move 15cm to turn 180° IG)
Play some combat mode
Combat mode really helps.

Oh and ... STOP BUYING ♥♥♥♥ING GRENADE LAUNCHERS :D
Practice LMG first, against skulks, and pistol too. When higher lifeforoms are on the field, get a shotgun.

umm how about cs go... a game that actually requires aim unlike cod lol

Crosshair mods can help too, check the workshop for one that suits your preferences.

I can see that you have a couple hours invested in payday. Now, I assume you are fairly decent and feel relatively "comfortable" while playing the game (especially since its VS AI and not players), so the next time you play it, here's what you should do:
Use the shotgun or the m308 only and force yourself to "jerk" your mouse at the cops instead of leading or slowly aiming. Meaning you hold your crosshair away from them and then you quickly drag it on their head/chest. This is what they call twitch aiming or drag shooting, usually essential for sniping in competitive play in any FPS.
When mastered, this is what it looks like:

I'm just starting NS2 myself, but judging by my experience with other FPS games I'd say that playing other games to improve your aim in NS2 is bad advice.

Don't bother with practicing your aim in other games because it will only result in you improving your aim in the game you use for practice. The reason is the different gun, movement and character mechanics.

If you try to improve your aim in NS2 by playing Quake, for example, you will get used to the movement and handling of the guns and characters IN QUAKE. In NS2 you move differently, aim differently and apply completely different timing when performing attacks.

Your aim in NS2 will not get better until you are comfortable and savvy enough in NS2, so whatever tips you take from this thread - my advice is to follow tips that focus on playing NS2.
