Game is wayyyy too underrated.
The gameplay is smooth, fast paced, and fun. The game does'nt really get boring. Controls are smooth. Concept is new, and works well.
Why is'nt this game given the props it should?

Well the fact that it is poorly optimized is irrefutable. Games that require hefty rigs should expect low player turnout, just saying. Look at games like Counter Strike that pretty much anyone with a computer made in the last 5 years can run.

The two first reason I agree with (even though I think the game is fairly optimized now compared to release) but I don't agree with the fact that the community would be bad towards new players. My experience is the opposite, this community is one of the more welcome ones I have encountered. Maybe I have been lucky.

But the learning curve is probably a huge turn off.

Payday 2 community is worst. Sometimes you get kicked out of games right before you get the rewards because some hosts just want to ruin peoples' fun. (There is no vote kick option)

Here, if you are new, just play a gorge or marine and stick with your teammates.

Optimization is actually much better now. Better than ROME 2 and we are comparing an indie developer to a huge company with tremendous budget for that game. And look how it turned out. That game has the absolute WORST poorly optimized garbage piece of marketing propaganda episodic youtube channel trash I have ever seen on a game. Worst than NS2 on release.

If Unknown Worlds had that kind of money.. I am sure they wouldn't spend 70% of the budget on a marketing campaign and 30% on the game itself.

It's not just client optimization that's been a problem throughout NS2's life, the servers have also seen their fiar share of problems and performance issues. Unfortunately the vast majority of people that already own NS2 from the sales and the like have already passed judgement. Most will never relook at NS2 beyond what they saw and experienced that first time. Sure the game is in a much better place now over all but the damage has been done. Any chance for NS2 to retain a more substanial player base passed it by many years ago.

There should be some kind of rookie map that new players are funneled into joining that helps ease them into the game with some kind of automatic commander system so one clueless player isn't holding back the entire team.

I have GeForce 465 1gb. It is not smooth enough for 1920x1080 (everything off and low). So I play 1280x720.

Geforce 765m and high settings with ambient occlusion medium, having constant +60~80fps. But yes, the reason why this game is not that popular(I actually think, the game is successful enough as an indie game and constant 1k-2k concurrent players are really big for an indie!) is mostly because of glitches and poor optimization. You know, they made big mistakes that they organized free weekend and sales after their worst patches. Most of people quit playing there. Anyway still, i admire dev team and game is awesome and actually imo pretty stable with popularity.

Well, it is my multiplayer-game of choice. I really love the game and thinks it is to bad that more aren't playing it because it really deservers a larger playerbase considering how rich the gameplay, in my opinion, is.

i feel the same that the game should ve gotten a 2-5% higher score on the numerous gaming sides and also abit more reviews and update news keep hyping it..

Don't forget that this game was actualy built by guys like you and me. They are mostly the same team that made Natural Selection 1 MOD running on Half-Life 1 engine. They are not professionnals like some of you might think. They do not represent some big company. They built the company themselves with about just 10 guys like you and me. The fact that these guys made this game with this level of gameplay and graphic is amazing.

I played Natural Selection 1 for 2-3 years every week. I had lots of fun playing it. I left it to try other stuffs, but I keep thinking about trying out NS-2. I might actualy go back to it ...

Actually with 2 guys was this project started. It was only an year ago before release that they got 5 more devs and now there are almost 10 all-time on office devs and 10+- part time. It's still to admire.

It takes awhile for franchises to blow up form new devs. And I don't want to say it but not being multiplatiform means that the game will never get all that much attention as a FPS. The days of the PC FPS being dominate are sadily over. Only the long running franchises have retained their playerbases such as CS on PC without being more sucessful on consoles.
