Steps
1) Open Run program for Windows (in Start Menu) and type: %appdata%
Or go to this directory: C:\Users\YourComputerName\AppData\Roaming
2) Open the "Natural Selection 2" folder, right click "ConsistencyConfig" and click "Open With"
3) Click "Browse" and find "Notepad", click "OK"
4) Select all of the code in the "ConsistencyConfig" file, and replace it with this:
{
"restrict": [],
"check": [],
"ignore": []
}
5) Save the file and exit, now play NS2 and try joining a server / your own private game. It should reduce load times a ton.
I willl check it when I get home thanks for the tips.
As for ram and SSD's, the computer I'm currently using is older because Im in the process of fixing mine but even still its not that old still has 3 gbs of ram. And the hard drive speed isn't terrible. I've never played a game with such long load times.
It seriously deters me from launching up the game and playing. If I have anything less than 2 hours to devote to just playing it I don't.
You clearly need to work on reading comprehension.
I have 8GB and it still is extremely slow. Most of it's spent on Precaching sitting at 0% and not even accessing the hard drive, so I don't even have faith that an SSD would help.
Load times have always been pretty harsh in Source games, but NS2 is the worst in terms of loading speed.
Yeah an SSD would certainly help but I really don't have the extra cash or desire to shell out for it for one game.
22 seconds for me, from Windows to the ready room of an official server. Though that wasn't after a fresh boot, probably already had stuff in RAM.
