Natural Dissapointment 2: a Game of freezing
I dont know what it is with this game, i havent been able to get past the main menu, it just freezes at 0% when creating a precache during its first time optimization. The game eventually crashes or comes up with an error saying it failed to complete the optomisation.

I have validated all the files, and my computer fufills the recommended requirements, and before you complain about the oldness of my machine, according to the stats it should be able to run it and it cant, which is unacceptable, especially for a game that has been out for quite a while.

os:Vista 64 bit
graphics: HD 6670 2gb
processor: Amd athlon 64x2 dual core processor 5200+ 2.60 ghz
ram: 4gb

You are actually correct in some sense. The minimum requirements are actually a little bit more demanding than what is listed, however with that said, you still should consider investing a little money into your computer if it is something you use often. Investing doesn't have to mean a complete overhaul. I really think you should get a new a mobo, cpu, and a small ssd just to play games on. Keep your hdd that you have now for whatever else and run in a raid configuration. easily under 500 bucks. w/e mobo, i5 3570k like i have is plenty and so worth the price, then get a 64gb ssd just for games and perhaps windows itself. Be amazed at what it will bring and save so much stress and more time playing. FYI, I upgraded from a 939 amd 3700+ san diego with a DFI Lanparty NF3 mobo if you think you got it bad. lol way older than what you got... seriously so old its hysterical...

i crash loaded myself through optimization about 30-40 times til it was done and later almost every map loaded crashed at least once(at 95% or 98% precache) til i made it in the servers ready room (that was a dual core e7500 2.93 @ 3.55 Ghz)... now e7500 2.93 @ 4.00 Ghz never crashed anymore precaching which makes me the 1st time wonder in my gamerlife that not enough Cpu Mhz is the reason to fail caching and crashing a game...

by the way with dual core 2.60 ghz u wont ve alot fun in later gamefights (larger servers more worse)... the frames ll go down on the lowest ugliest possible settings to about 15-20 fps both cores kicking under the 100% usage roof...

i had once a amd x2 dual core 3800+ 2.00 @ ~ 2.70 Ghz..... plz try to overlclock ur cpu, it should go from 2.60 to 3.00 ghz quite easily and should be able to reach 3.20-3.40 Ghz (plz check out numerous internet forums from OC geeks & nerds about OCing your kind of Cpu and what to take care of) .... then NS2 should become playable & in low settings enjoyable frameswise..

or yes u needa upgrade ur cpu (me thinking of replacing this dual core 4.00 Ghz in max half a year too just because of damn NS2.......(yea yea gta 4(but hey singleplayer) , planetside 2, battlefield 3/4 and a few others could ve needed more Cpu performance)

oh maybe one of these may help you here with crashing abit but i dont think so :
try run NS2 as Admin and/or re-validate your NS2 data via steam... and/or some specific .NET Framework (and/or Visual C++ Redistributable missing)... and/or if u ve Adobe Creative Cloud installed, disable it.

how long have you waited? Even with good specs it takes a good while, and if you alt tab out during loading it crashes (9 out of 10 times). Just let it load for a good 3-5 min first time (maybe longer since its your first time running the game).

I got 8gb Ram and got this game installed on SSD. Compared to other games the loading times are about 8 to 12 times as long as other games (yes im serious). And the very first time starting ns2 takes the longest of all loading. So just let it run and go make some coffee.

(i have a high end computer and the first time loading a map takes horribly long, close to 1 minute, which in PC terms is years ;) )

(also what the rest saidupdate drivers).

ive lowered the graphic settings, checked my drivers are up to date (which they are) and whenever i start a game it begins to precach and then gets to about 12% atnd returns me to the main menu,
