Commander Training with Bots is Pointless.
Don't do it. Seriously. They wouldn't know the order of what to build things even if it stared them in the face. Much less, they stare at any building you ask them to build versus actually building it.

I wanted to learn how to do Commander in a more-relaxed environment then an actual game that way I wouldn't ruin other people's experiences by being an awful commander, so I decided what i'd do is Bot-Command in order to get a feel for it. I got tired of going into pub matches where nobody wanted to be commander because it was seen as a seriously scary role.

Being that the Bots are fully AI, I should have expected this. However, it "should" have been suitable enough to get a feel for the spot, versus it turning into an chore just to tell a bot OVER and OVER and OVER again: "Repair this power node pls."

I seriously didn't want to be tossed to the dogs on this one, but is the only real way to get any real form of commander experience to merely go out in normal games and sink or swim?

I really wish they'd rework the Bot mode that way it's actually decent enough for commander-to-be's to get some decent training in. They completely ignore whatever order you give them to free-roam search & Destroy. I had them on intermediate because I felt Expert was too easy, but beginner was a severe challenge that I wasn't ready for.

Again, I just felt it was stupid that I would have to do pub games in order to get any real decent training in. It makes me feel bad for whomever gets the displeasure of having me as a commander, as i'm going through a learning phase right now with it.

For the order of things(tech and structures) ask your teammates and watch a few experienced commanders. The point of training with bots to me is just to practice the hotkeys and memorize what tabs the things are under.

I'm a new comm too (I know how to do everything but I'm a little slower and can forget things.) I find it's great to go comm when there is currently no commander and no one wants to command - that way you can't possible make the game worse. Always ask your team what they would like, e.g. fast phase gates, shotgun rush or upgrades.

this sounds like a pub game to me, pretty accurate simulation.

It's good for learning the hotkeys and what structures do what.

That's about it, though.
