Marines should be able to reasearch/buy nightvision goggles
I pretty much always play alien and love the alien vision, but when i play as a marine i cant see anything. Everything is too dark and the flashlight doesnt help much.

What do you guys think? i think it would be cool if marines could buy Nightvision for like 10RES

I Like the idea
But you could go a step farther
and allow marines a motion tracker from the Proto-type lab for 10 Res to sense stealthed aliens in proximity to you.

Bad idea, you have flashlight.

It helps give away your position and only illuminates a small area.

That is why a optional replacement would be nice.

Build the power and lights turn on.

I'm quite not satisfied with marines' flashlight too. It should be either revamped or replaced with night vision, in case you are able to buy one.
How about a gas mask first? Teleporters but no gas mask? Makes no sense

Hello,

Nightvision? Nope. Motion sensors? Nope.
This is would be a counter to an alien trait which is unique to them (nightvision) and doesn't need to be countered. It's also a part of the gameplay as marines. Aliens are supposed to be predators hunting their prey. Not the reverse.
Moreover, to counter the rare cloaked aliens you've got:
-Scans (oh wait, doesn't it already add a motion sensor when an area is scanned?)
-Your brain / eyes. Most of cloaked aliens "hide in plain sight" so it's quite easy to spot them if you're careful, and because they don't move they don't dodge, and you're supposed to hit every single bullet when your shoot. They don't last long.
And finally who would seriously BUY nightvision or motion sensors with PRes? Save yours for welders and shotguns. If it's a marine tech which would be researched on the protolab, then it would already be too late to be of use (late game against Onos and fades).

I know the part about gas masks is some kind of sarcasm, but even for that there's a counter : the flamethrower (which counters bile bomb, spores, umbra, and is a support/siege weapon).

No seriously, the flashlight is fine. It's not even often dark in NS2, so nightvision goggles would be of no use.

It is, but it technologically makes no sense how a society that could invent FTL, teleportation, tiny mobile factories that can spit out infinite amounts of weapons without any noticable inputs, and blueprints that use some form of nanotechnology to build couldn't invent a gas mask.

And cloners. But haven't invented night vision.

It's a good idea, one step further is to allow aliens to evolve improved night vision with better color discrepency.

I think he want to slow Cloak Phantom Aliens speed

^ That or you could always nicely ask your comm to scan the next hallway before entering

Marine commander can scan... all that needed,

It could be cool for campaign if there was one, but PvP will be messed and crippled with 'logic' stuff. Basically space-marines should have germetic suits, so lerks gas would be of no use and all area could be sterilised easily by pouring in combustible/poisonous gas in ammounts bigger then flimsy aerosol spray, since they get 'omg space rhinos invasion'.
Topped with 3 turrets pr room limit, stations that can be powered Only by immobile node built in special place but same time temporary powered by CS Magick, and healthdrops from thin air but no mass bomb teleportation.
It has 'fine logic' that reminds old Alien films series. If it'll go in 'deeper thought out realism' instead it can end up with smth like WH extremes with no bounds.
