Any plans for x360 controller support?
Controller support ever?

No. Twitch shooters don't work with controllers. Natural Selection 2 complicates twitch shooters even more as it requires full 3D movement for the Alien side with walking on walls and flying. It's not possible to play the game with a controller. Controllers are too slow.

You can't be serious. NS2 requires actual aim skill, accuracy. You can't play NS2 with a controller.

If you can play left 4 dead and even Counter Strike GO - at least Valve has optimized so you can then NS2 shouldn't be any different. And personally I think the player base would grow because of it too.

People like options given to them. Its why consoles have so many different styles of controllers and why Valve is investing in creating that thumbless joypad of theirs.

A lot of people who currently play NS2 are pretty good at shooters. CS:GO or L4D doesn't require tracking aim, just twitch and even then it's not as critical as NS2 in the average level. Just use a M&K please, any serious FPS player in the world knows they are magnitudes superior to pads.

Unlike most shooters, if you get good at NS2 then you get much better at any other shooter because the aim requirement is very high, almost up there with pro CS or Quake 3.

There is absolutely no way a controller is going to be able to track a decent lerk or a fade. Even a medicore skulk is going to be hard to track. Alien controller MAY be playable, but it;s not going to be a fast as mouse keyboard. I could see gorge or Onos on a controller, but the other three alien classes as well as Marines simply would be awful on it. The reaction time on a controller simply cannot compete.

Neither L4D or CSGO have enemies flying or almost teleporting around you. A good fade comes out of nowhere. Unless they enact autoaim on a controller, it's not possible to play aganist that.

True, but some games don't lend themselves to those playstyles.

I will choose to remain optimistic. As I think it is more than capable. I don't play too many twitch shooters as this community calls them, so I don't know the challenges involved to make it work. However I guess I have to skip this one - because I have tried many times to play keyboard and mouse. I don't know how you guys do it, aiming okay movement. no way.

I have to agree with the majority here. Of all the games I own, I think this one would be the worst to play with a controller/gamepad.

Just siding with the majority. Mouse and keyboard only. I tried messing around with some xpadder options using a 360 controller, was frustrating and was dying to quickly to even really optimize it and put it to the test, so i scrapped it. Go play minecraft (seriously, do it) and get use to it's movement system, then come back. It's the same, just faster. Minecraft you don't die as much trying, of course.

Let me explain, then. In FPS games, gamepad will be always inferior to mouse and keyboard. Why is that?

Imagine you are walking through the forest and you hear a noise somewhere behind you. you are able to spin around and look exactly where you heard the noise in real life. In a game, you can do it with a mouse but not with a gamepad. Why?

Because a gamepad stick offers a limited acceleration and precision, while with a mouse, if you have a trained hand and eye, you can twitch-aim with almost perfect precision. Moving with a mouse and keyboard is like contolling a human, while using a gamepad is more like controlling a tank with a turret.

That's why games like Resident Evil and GTA have crutches like auto aim and/or super slow enemies to compensate.

So forget it, with a gamepad, you won't stand a chance.
