Fisheye effect
Even without the FOV adjuster, the game seems to have a really bad camera. Objects closer to the edges of the screen become stretched and larger as I look away form them. This distorts the perception of space quite a bit and it's disturbing.

This effect can be observed in games like Quake 3 when you set the FOV above, say...150ish.

Ok let me get this straight :

Put your FOV to maximum. This "fisheye" effect is a good thing. Ok distance distorsion is bad, but you don't really need to know at which exact distance an object is. The real thing you gotta focus on is what is around your crosshair.
Now, what it is useful for is that it gives you a larger point of view, instead of the kind of narrow "cone" you normally have. It's a great advantage because you can easily spot things on your side. Remember that skulks and aliens in general tend to ambush you (so do marines, sometimes) so the wider your view is, the better. Most of competitive players play with FOV set to max.

It only takes one hour to get used to it. In the beginning you'll feel like you're running at 88mph, but it's ok. In the end it's better for you.

You don't get the point. More fov isn't bad. The way this game does it is bad. Arguing on the internet is stupid so I just want the devs to see this and hopefully make the right choice and fix it so it dosent mess up the perspective.

Marines and each alien lifeform have different base FOVs, with skulks having the highest.

Never found the fisheye effect to be a problem in any circumstance.

Ok, cool, so it's just that you don't like how it looks, fine, I understand.
I just don't agree. This effect doesn't bother me and I feel it's even more useful because you can spot objects on your sides more easily since they're bigger :D
I'm sure when you'll have 25+ hours in-game, you won't even think about it and you'll get used to it. Give the game a chance :)

Only my opinion, though.

Why?
It's better to keep the raw input anyway, but I feel like max FOV is even more useful for marines because they can spot aliens hiding on the side of their screen ...
