Frames Per Second
Anyone have any tips on increasing FPS with NS2? Preferable within the settings of the game itself.

turn everything on low / off, use the fps console command. open console with tilde key ~ and then type in "fps" without the quotation marks. Then run a local server by clicking on training then sandbox. fps will show up the top left, so play with settings to find out what works and what doesn't. Personally I run it at 1920x1080 with everything on low/off/minimal except for textures because there's only a 1-3 fps difference for me there so I keep them on high. Playing on a lower resolution will help, possibly running windowed mode. Make sure you close any programs you don't need open, such as a webbrowser or skype or anything like that - unless you really do need to keep them running.

set the hud quaility to minimal, run your game in a borderless window and use the highest possible settings while maintaining 60fps. always use triple buffered vertical sync if your video card has enough memory (if not turn off vertical sync completely). also consider setting the lowest screen resolution (that fully fits on your screen) if your're dropping bellow 60fps on all low.
