A lot of times when I join servers I am not being told the current situation or what we are doing. We rarely seize and hold territorial control because nobody knows what to do in each moment, and if we are split we can not coordinate our force to achieve effectiveness. Some communicating micro-managing commanders might tell me to go there, bring that, stick with them. If the commander doesn't continue issuing me micro-managing orders I'll become confused and passive, or the group mind will control us which might not always lead to the best results. Micro-managing everyone requires an unnecessary amount of tasking by the commander which can be simplified in broken down squad-assigned team-goals.
Moderating and coordinating team effort is important and I would never stop that, rather leave command. What is the most seamless way of integrating players who just joined into the team who has no idea what is currently going on? At first thought I would tell them to stick with the group and then later continually task the groups as a whole. But the first thing the new player would wonder is what're we doing and what what should I do. This is the question I want to satisfy.
Insecure commanders, thus an insecure team, is the worst kind (except from the self-degrading one), and the team would not be benefitted in any way. Therefore I want to minimize all those aspects in my commanding.
Some general advice for new commanders: Early game, capture your half of the map and build the resource towers. Defend this territory throughout the match and attack and kill the enemy team's resource nodes. This way your team will get more resource income than the enemy team while being able to defend your income. Once you are strong enough to push into the enemy's most weak territory and hold it, you can expect a counter-attack. In this counter-attack, the enemy will invest a lot of resources, if you manage to fend it off, the enemy will lose these resources. Immediately attack their base(first active tech-node), you will easily win.
