Guns are ♥♥♥♥, why this game fails...
They feel like pea shooters, seriously they're not fun to play with...

No recoil, no ckick back, no screen shake....... it's liek shooting nothing. They feel weak, they sound weak, they take a whole clip+ to kill anything :/

Just not something NS1 suffered from, but NS2 does.

There never was any recoil or significant kickback or screenshake in the original mod, either.

And if it takes you a whole mag to kill a Skulk, you're doing something wrong.

There is an issue with the animations for the female rifle model, but the rest of the weapons look and sound appropriate enough.

There was in the original mod, I remember, it wasn't as dramatic as CS, but it was there, like it was for explosions as well. In NS2 you just have nothing, nothing feels real as a result, all just lifeless and detatched.

I even remember the sounds in NS Mod being far better and they sounded way more powerful...

I just think they should ahve used Source, would have been a much better engine than whatever crap they made NS2 on.

Oh, and I guess the animation of the rifle bucking wildly as you unload with the male marine rifle model is 'nothing'?

The subtle screentilt as you shoot and rack the shotgun is 'nothing'?

The significant screenshake as you shoot grenades from the launcher and the shake from explosives that go off in close proximity is 'nothing'?

Be careful with absolutes when people can start up the game themselves in sandbox and fact check within seconds. Because it says you like to jump to conclusions.

Weapons were also 100% recoiless in the original mod and worked off of firing cones. Same as NS2. Your aim never deviated from your crosshair just from the simple act of firing your weapon. The shotgun in the original also didn't have any screenshake at all, so NS2 actually one-ups it there.

While I will agree that there is no...aesthetic feeling of shooting. The guns are quite powerful, 11 bullets to kill a skulk? Each rifle bullet at weapons 0 does 10 damage and through a whole match the alien team gets very little health increases.

It's future, so in future there is no recoil.

For a game there needs to be a feeling of weight, I'm sure there is weight in the future, the only way to get the impression of weight in a game is kick back and recoil etc.

No recoil = Call of Duty

Recoil >>> go play Counter Strike or REdOchestra 2

Oh boy. Guns feel weak if you're ♥♥♥♥ with them, simple. Go play a round of shotgun vs good fade players. If you had recoil, kickback and screen shake vs actual good fades and lerks, you would be sobbing in a corner from how much you got lubed up.

Recoil, screen shake and kickback does not equal challenging and fun gameplay, only in games where the overall mechanics work with it and certainly doesn't pertain to balance.

Games like CS work with these mechanics because the opponents you face are slow and the skill comes from headshotting and reflexes. Games like Quake and NS2 DO NOT work with these mechanics because the opponents you face are lightning fast, wall-jumping, teleporting and flying everywhere. Something average FPS players can't handle in the slightest, they aren't used to that level of speed because of slower shooters like CoD, BF and CS have conditioned them to aim head high with slow targets.

I'll keep my "pea-shooters". I've played enough of this game vs pretty good players that I've got my shotgun and rifle skills pretty good as far as pubbers go, I feel powerful as a marine.

Nothing to do with beign ♥♥♥♥ or speed...

Quake has powerful feeling guns and is way faster than this game.

The guns just feel like pea shooters.

Do you honestly expect people to have portable railguns, rocket launchers in one hand, plasma guns and lightning guns? Not many games actually have weapons that aren't completely broken that feel uber powerful.

I'm not saying NS2's weapons are BFGs as far as power goes, I'm saying that they become more powerful the more you know how to use them which is why a shotgun in a rookies hand feels pathetic but as a fade vs a good shotgun, boy they're scary to deal with. Skill makes you powerful. You could say the same about a railgun honestly, a hard weapon to use and only powerful in the right hands.

Taking a whole clip to kill a skulk? Yeah you're not good enough, simple. On a good day, I can easily get 2-3 kills per clip against skulks and beat fades and lerks with a single mag. Onos are designed to take 4-5 mags to kill. As the game goes on, rifles lose their power vs shotguns and GLs because rifles are free.

I'd say the shotgun feels fine, if you land your shotguns, it feels strong and has a good punch to it. Rifle and flamethrower feels a bit weaker I agree but the rifle is still a powerful weapon mechanically.

Your inability to aim does not make weapons pea shooters.

Someone with a jetpack and a shotgun who has good aim can take down 6 skulks with 6 shots.

Pea shooter implies the weapons don't do enough damage.
