Poor Performance
Sorry if this is beating a dead horse. Didnt see any posts within 6 months about this.
I cant seem to get decent frame rates not matter what I do. I always used to get bad frame rates on my old gaming laptop but now I have a I have a 770 4GB in my desktop and its only slightly better. I turned EVERYTHING on the lowest settings and it's still only around 45 fps when sitting in an empty game. I'm sure it'll go much lower when lurks are around.
Am I missing something or is this just how the game is? I though there was a performance update a while back?

what processor do you have? that is the bottleneck for most people. I'm not the most up to date on harware performance, but I think your 770 is capable of getting alot better fps.
Yea I would think so too. This is one of the better cards on the market. It can handle most games easily. It gets choppy during heavy combat, very annoying.
My CPU: i7-4820k @ 3.7GHz, I can overclock it to 4.5GHz probably if thats were the bottleneck is, but i dont think it should be.

There's something else going on with your system.

What resolution are you running at as well?

My i5 4670K with a GTX 560 at medium settings at 1680x1200 gets 150 startings FPS and rarely drops below 70.
1920x1080 nativly but i was running at 1280x720 to try to get more power.
Well my system has felt a bit slow so maybe this confirms my suspision as fact and not in my head, but not really sure whats causing it. I checked all running processes, closed everything not in use before running the game. I'm not a n00b at computers so this is pretty strange for me.
Running windows 8.1 if anyone has any ideas. i tried most stuff i can think of myself.

Any possibility that your intregrated GPU is running rather than your dedicated?

Oh yea, i remember my hardware friend telling me about that happening. But i dont think so since this isn't a laptop.

I may be wrong about it. But as far as I know integrated GPUs aren't limited to laptops.

Yes i have one but hdmi cable is plugged into the dedicated card. Im not sure how frames from the cpu would get output though the card. I also checked though i see no evidence of that running.

Do you have any anti-virus programs that might be eating CPU?
Keijo 17/jun./2014 às 15:51
Well theres something going on with ns2 in your system, with those specs you would propably get 45fps end game on a 24 player server, which is still bad naturally but getting 45 on empty maps is just not normal.

Nothing but whats built into Windows 8 (Microsoft Security Essensials basically). I also close almost everything besides steam when I play games.

Yes, thats what i expected as well. Here's some other weierd stuff. Sitting at the menu i get around 85fps. In the RR i was getting over 150fps. Once i chose a team it shot down to ~45.

Running r_stats "waiting for GPU" is mostly 0, flickering 1 sometimes.
waiting for render thread is hard to read but sometimes hits 10 or 15.

Think i might just start uninstallring random programs to see whats causing this. I'm running out of options. Thinking about reformatting out of curiosity.

New nVidia drivers (340.43) came out. I did a clean install of them.
Now with lowest settings im getting around 70-80 fps in empty server.
Try reinstall the game and play without mods to see what happens.
