A mistake...
I got this game a few weeks ago and almost every time i join a server i get kicked. The reason is because i'm a rookie. Every time i get in a game, i never have a chance to even join a team. I just get sent back to the main menu saying i've been kicked. And most of the time i'm on *rookie friendly* servers. I know it's because i'm a rookie that i'm getting kicked. Some of the admins will inform me that they don't want to deal with a noob/scrub/♥♥♥♥♥♥ rookie, then kick me. Other times its a vote-kick. So i think i'm just going to uninstall this game, it sucks that stuff like this happens but what can you do?

Go on to the GREEN servers, not the white ones (white ones can have game playtime requirements).
Green servers HAVE TO accept rookies and they are FOR Rookies,

And It is very highly recommended to have a mic and listen to the commander and your teammates, and if you don't know something in game ask.
This is not a lone wolf game like BF$ or C0D. The Commander matters and teamwork matters.
And don't go into the Comm Chair or command til you have about 75 hours of solid play time.

Also I recommend reading the wiki[wiki.unknownworlds.com]
and watching NS2 tutorial videos to do a catch up can not be a green rookie.

If you need to learn alien lifeforms and get a feel each upgrade, you could join a combat server

I didn't know about the server colors, i'll be sure to stay to green servers from now on. Even though some of those green "rookie friendly" servers were the ones kicking me.

However, my problem isn't that i don't know how to play this game, i've already watched the tutorial videos, played the in-game tutorial, and know all about the aliens from the wiki. My problem is that no one gives me a chance to prove myself. The moment i join a game all they see is a rookie who will bring them down.

oh please, i doubt i'll ever get a chance to even use it.
Prove them wrong, don't go off on your own, stick close to another player or group, and LISTEN to the commander and your teammates (Listening is very important, as is teamwork)
It'll show you know that this is a team game.

They tend to KICK:
LONE WOLVES and
Folks who DO NOT LISTEN to the Comm or advice from teammates when they are a rookie.
On rookie friendly servers (green) I've only seen players getting vote kicked for trolling / afk / rookie commander that won't logout. Even if you play lke a total noob, you usually won't get kicked from those servers. If you got kicked before joining a team then it might have been a mod that kicks every player who does not have enough time played. Also remember that this game runs on dedicated servers and players who own them can make their own rules and kick whoever they want. If admin kicks you then just change server.

I'll try to prove them wrong.

It might have been mods then. I didn't know about that server color thing, i'll keep trying to play it. But there's not really alot of active servers, most are empty.
Yea and that dedicated server thing sounds fun, admins who have there own rules. i can see how that'll play out for me.

I don't see people kicking rookies often, but you have to join rookie-friendly servers (green). Generally people are nice until you blantly ignore them. Even if you fail at doing what they ask, they normally don't go on a tangent. (There always are a few rotten apples in the bunch though, that's to be expected).

If you need any help, feel free to add me and ask any questions. I know the game very well, and can help you even with alien commanding. (I haven't commanded for marines, so I can't help you there).
That's why there are under 2k people playing usually. There's guys out there who are so competitive, they play on another level, giving up health, society, and work to play this. Much like World of Warcrap, Beta/alphafield Calladoody: Goats, or Calladoody:Blops. Now that the game's been out for a while, people have pretty much moved on to other more casual, possibly more fun, designed games that came out to spend time on. Leaving the dried up precipitate at the bottom of the allegorical pot, that is the player base.

In short, it's like playing pool against guys who do nothing but play pool.

However, if they decided on a pay to win model, those guys would spend a lot of money. So I doubt it would change.

Only way to fix it is with matchmaking, but that's a massive headache.

Im recommend you go Trainning mode before go on server play

You must learn what type of building do what / Strategy to counter
