TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE

not much more to be said... any fixes?

System specs:

MSI GE60 0ND

Win8 64 bit
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660m (2GB GDDR5)
8 GB RAM
Intel Core i7 3630QM
HDD 1TB
2.6ghz

"Game" Notebooks - totally is bollocks!

They have a habit of overheating and give poor performance

yah, don't run this game on a laptop.
As it's running a in-house built engine, that has not been optimised

I run this game on a laptop because it's the only way I can play.
It's crippiling, because you'll never get FPS higher than 30. It's like broken knees :C

ATI6850
8GB RAM

Play on 1440x900, always have 60+fps even lategame. This is processor heavy. I upgraded from an i3 and couldn't manage 30fps late game.

Oh and don't play on Wooza's 42man server unless you can tolerate m0rons, bad performance, imbalance and lag.

Hi there, you dont mention your framerate at all. Could you please supply some more info? Certain specs need certain options for the best performance. You might also benefit from the next patch, which is due very soon.

I have the exact same laptop but with a 750gb hd. I have no problem running the game at 45-70 fps with almost everything on low at 1440x900.

I get around 60-70 fps on low (1920x1080) but when i play on high with everything up (ambient occlusion medium) i get around 20-30 fps.

Another topic i would like to discuss, is that there are hardly any servers that have a ping below 100 for me. I currently live in Australia.

Your framerate is about what I would have thought you would get. Ambient Occlusion is VERY taxing on any hardware, and is due to be optimised as a future goal but not any time soon.

I would recommend until the next patch that you turn everything on low except textures, then selectivly turn on a few things like antialiasing and anisotropic filtering, which should make things nicer but not impact your framerate much,

As for servers in Austraila, there isnt much we can do about that I'm afraid. There are a few servers there and in Asia that should give you good pings, as well as the AusNS2 community (http://ausns2.org/).
