Build 268 // Are Aliens too strong now ?!
I think the new patch broke the game. The Marien-side was already to weak and now their much weaker than before. What do you think?

nah exosuits are workable now and grenades

Marine and Aliens got buffs.
Marines got the buffs in the EXOs and their buildings

Marine were stronger than aliens, it's just that pub players don't shoot correctly. This new build is inspired by the CompMod (the mod that the competitive scene uses to play NS2, and that has been made to fit better in 6v6, and in 6v6 marines were stronger than aliens). And it's great. We got rid of stupid things (60s delay for coms to have res, silly techtree for aliens, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shooting time for grenades...), got some new cool features (2 IP at start for 9v9+, walking better exosuits, metabolize ♥♥♥♥♥). All in all this build is good. Now, we just have to wait and see what happens during 12v12, because the current build works better on lower pop servers. I think it's an overall improvement (and I say so probably because I played a lot on compmod and got used to it).

I have no clue as to where you heard/think marines were weaker and are even weaker now? This patch only nerfed aliens for the most part, and isn't a good balance in my opinion (compmod doesnt work for 12v12)

it's much harder for the aliens in the beginning because groges can not drop fast tunnels. Tunnels are as well narfed...
The first matches were pretty bad for alien, but afer a while it was pretty balanced

lol@marines were already weak, Marines have mines and nade spam, instant portals, and a beacon when their base gets overrun, aliens dont have any of that.

GAME feels pretty balance to be honest

Marines pretty much only got buffed this patch. Besides GL cost and weapon despawn timers.

Aliens are more complicated. Though I'm inclined to believe that they're slightly better off than before since losing lifeforms is less punishing later in the game due to the reduced costs, and Fade actually has upgrades that you'd want to research now (RIP Shadowstep).

I dont think much changed for pub play, in away you still lose/win for the same reasons than before, maybe in pub games because you always have insane amount of res because people don't kill rts so much the lower cost for alien forms has a slight impact.

If you think mathematically that aliens are with 3-5rts you get quite a bit more lerks/fades/onos in the long run.

Now I didnt even really read the change log but as I understood aliens are -5 res per dude, so I think it's quite big impact on pub play because in comp play the first lerks/fade are what wins or loses but in pub games you kinda get multiple changes before you lose.

Initial timings for advanced lifeforms hasn't really changed because of the -5 starting pres. Lerks and Fades are going to first hit the field at about the same time as before. The difference is in longer games, since they're cheaper and easier to purchase again after you die.

I hope, now that gorges can't drop tunnels at start, that people will stop going ♥♥♥♥ing gorge right after the beginning of the game. Also, great news for alien commander. And 2nd IP at start REALLY IS an improvement, and arms lab at 15Tres is cooooool.

Thats the point! This game will only survive with 30 slots or higer server. You can see that this server are always full and just a little fraction of old hardcore gamer is playing on lower server. I think this new patch is not customer-friendly and if it continue in this direction the game will be a dead waste land of empty server. Don't think in a little scale consider the whole community.

What do you think about this side of view ?

They have been going in the direction in favor of a very select group of comp players since 249. It's sad to see what this game couldve been and what it is now (it actually still is a good game tho, just not as open to everyone as it should). The problem is the previous devs and the new community dev team mostly visit the UWE forums which are a complete circle jerk fest. I appreciate the effort they put into it, but they listen to a too select part of the community.

Very sad to see this happen in such a small community...

Barely any devs use the steam discussions, even valve does not use their own discussions - they post their patch notes on 3rd party sites and the regular steam forums. If a developer has their own site they most likely will barely/if ever visit the steam discussions.

If you want to add your 2 cents with reasoning, feel free to make an account and post on the UWE forums - Provide reason/proof to your claims and have a constructive discussion about it instead of calling it a 'circle jerk' fest. I see nothing but improvements
