Voice to text keyboard
In the discussion on this link:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/6ok49m/steamvrspotify_control_your_music_from_vr/

the OP mentions that he thinks he can make an openvr speech to text keyboard plugin. I don't want to volunteer you without checking: can I mention that you would also be interested in his work? (I thinking that the Spotify pluggin he mentions in the title post isn't needed here.)

Edit: I like the keyboard that you created, I just thought this might be a neat addition. Not sure the Vive mic would be good enough, to be honest.

Interested!

I would love that feature! I've been wanting to do voice to text, but have been busy doing other features.

I'll post!
Btw, everything I'm seeing about WindowsVR (the new Acer and Hp hmd's coming out) sounds like everything will be written in C++ or C#, along with support for Java, html and xaml. Or is everything written in Xaml and supports C++ and C#? You'll find out! The point being; everything that I'm seeing says that you should expect to export this to Windows10! That should solve your "boredom" problem.
since chrome is integrated could you adapt this into the keyboard code? https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/demos/speech.html - add it as a mic button on the keyboard. possibly a wake up phrase? its like 10 lines to implement.

Edit: to clarify this is a pure Javascript/HTML5 implementation using chromes webkitSpeechRecognition API - https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2013/01/Voice-Driven-Web-Apps-Introduction-to-the-Web-Speech-API

Thanks, I'll research it. I've enabled mic input on the browsers, but somehow everything except Google's own speech to text worked before. Worth another look!

This would be great and complete the VR toolbox experience from me. I would recommend a dedicated button to quickly access the mic (instead of having to point the laser at a mic icon in the keyboard) since it would be used so often. For example pressing grip and holding the controller to your face like you're speaking into a microphone off the top of my head. Or making the mic icon very large and just pointing to it rather than clicking it.
