i have the same problem . it's funny. trial ver. can run , but full ver. always crash in vstep , but not computer crash . i use xp os , i use grapfic on board , 6150 . it can run but lag . i use gts 450 , but it crash . cpu is amd x2 6000 + . then i use e6300+ hd7700+xp . it crash but trial is ok . what's wrong？

I figure out this is a VC dist problems by study the Windows logs and the error messages. And I just do a lot try-and-error from microsoft download. It's very difficult to find the "latest" version VC++2005 dist on the Microsoft website. At least this solution is work for me.

The main problem is the VC dist come with the Steam package is the old version (8.0.59193) but the program is require the new version (8.0.61001). Maybe it changed with version update, but I guess Steam never update their install bundle.

I'll reply to the Steam support with what I found. The reply from Steam Support is just look like copy-and-paste answer. I almost want to ask him is he used to be a player like me before he took a arrow in the knee.

Try this solution, some said it worked. Others said just manually installing the vcredist, DirectX and nVidia Phisyx solved the issue (these can be found in the game's directory, e.g. C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ship simulator extremes\Resources\redist). In my case, neither these helped :-( so I'd be grateful for any other possible solution.

@gary, did you try the solution I wrote 2 posts above? Installing a new verison of VC2005 runtime might help. You should also download and install the latest nVidia Physics instead of the one that comes with this.
