Knights better all round i have found while fighting all thought if we were to go with say the best kit for each (Swaidien being full helm leather armor maybe 2 hand sword and a charger) Swaid all the way

Depends what you mean... if you are talking about how intimidating one looks, there's something about a warrior clad entirely in silver chain-mails that chills me to the core.
But as for which unit is more powerful, in my opinion, the Swadian Knights are far better equipped and always spawns with an armored horse, as oppose to the Mamlukes, which only spawns with a Sarranid War horse like two-thirds of the time. Just for simplicity I'd field the Knights whenever possible.
Besides the knights only cost like 1 denar more than the mamluke each, and I can never tell the difference of the riding speed of a Knight from a Mamluke, it doesn't matter much in the grand scale of things.

Mamelukes, always!

Spears, swords, maces, sheilds as well as mixture of both armoured and unarmoured horses means that they are very versatile and can tackle multiple threats.

Then again, I have had more experince with mamelukes, and in the greater schemes of things they are virtually the same.

On a side note, Slave Chiefs are very good for bandit control.

While I do agree that Sarranid is a much more versatile faction to play with, the direct comparison of Knights and Mamlukes in the video game Warband should not involve the faction's strengths and weaknesses.

Personally I neglect joining the Swadians as a vassal, because using them is really boring; their infantry and crossbowmen are painfully middle-of-the-road stuff, and full calv strategy is really boring and always useless against the Rhodoks on their territory.

Knights, though i do like Khergit archers, seeing as you just ride all over both knights and mamelukes without so much as staining your fur breeches.
