Haha, wait till you see this games idea of fair and balanced levels. You either make a perfect build or you can't beat a single scenario.

I can help you if you have some questions mate. Add me freely.

okay how do you compleat the second necropolis map if you have blood moves. The game makes no mention of only one build working, but you lose all your troops if you don't spec in tears. It's made worse because your attacks are nerfed at the beginning of the map. What once allows you to use the enemy numbers against them now does squat. Just angry at the game.

I agree with it being too difficult. I still can't get past the second level of the Gerhart missions. I can understand an oversight but I don't know why they didn't go back and fix it.

I honestly dont know why this game is so dificult to you. I consider myself a casual player even though I've played HoMM series since the 2nd game through the 6th, and I had no problems at all with the game.

Some general tips:

1. Use the "wait" option in battle, and wait for the opponent to get close for taking your 1st ranged shot with each creature (to do full dmg and not halved dmg).

2. The key is to preserve units, if you lost units in a battle, learn from your mistakes and replay the battle. Winning without loses is your goal at almost every battle (you will lose units against major battles, thats affordable).

3. Use your creature's abilities, every creature has a role. Use the faction ability (necro has a great one).

@Faren
If you made a blood focused hero, you should use Vampire touch (or something like that) its very helpful to win most battles with no losses.

@CaptainChemist
What exactly is hard for you mate?

Feel free to add me, i can try to help you whenever I'm online.

I have ragequit the game. Was pointless to play this game. Every time i have x number of units AI respawn from nowhere 10x number of units.. :P

I disliked the difficulty level too but then switched to "Easy" which made the game *much* more enjoyable. Requiring use of optimal strategies and builds, exploiting weaknesses of the AI and game triggers plus requiring the player to know *exactly* where to go and not deviate (= no exploring or "unnecessary" battles) is what I would expect at "Hard" difficulty -- not "Normal."

Are you kidding guys? Most people actually was complaining about simplificated HOMM mechanics.

Anastasia is actually supposed to be in Blood path IMO, because beginning of mission 3 you already have Curse of the Netherworld, which kills almost everything living on the battlefield along with healing/resurrecting your troops. Use dark magic Vampirism, Agony and Weakness, buff Magic Power in both Dark and Primal branches, when hit lvl 15 get summon Elemental spell asap so every enemy ranged unit is disabled at start of every combat.
Be tactiacal, think, replay battles few times to get the main picture, when you do, rest of the game will be a cakewalk. I'm replaying full campaign and that's nothing but enjoyment from this game (aside from rare black screens lol).

Super Pro Tip: Check every Conflux Orb in your travels, mainly check most rated comments section, there you will find good info on builds, what you may encounter ahead and how best to act. Combine it with hitting F5 button after every major action, and you're gonna do just fine.
