If you don't have any trouble running HOMM6 it's a very nice game, wouldn't want to miss it myself. But if you have the bad luck of not being able to run it properly then no of course. Bit of a shame Ubisoft doesn't really do it's best to give a good gaming experience for as many people as possible, especially for a serie like HOMM.

Good thing that the demo is working on your system. In that case I'd try the full game or wait for discount :) btw there's also a game serie called King's Bounty that is a bit like HOMM. Maybe you like it too and it's not too expensive :).

I'm really excited about this game again after two years of having uninstalled it. But Talana's right -- your experience might be really different.

I can speak to the Kings Bounty comparison. I have both games and they are both very similar (as I understand, the ORIGINAL Kings Bounty game was the inspiration for the ORIGINAL Heroes game, waaay back when). Both of them have grid-based tactical combat between organized unit stacks. Both of them have talent trees and equipping gear and leveling. But it seems that Kings Bounty lacks the additional city-building strategic elements that I like so much about Heroes, and focuses instead on other RPG elements.

If you do check out this game I recommend screwing around with skirmish maps on the smaller maps ("Large" is just about right for this) while you learn how factions, mechanics, and tactics work. The campaigns feel very large and there's definitely potential to fall behind against the scripted encounters. At this stage I go between both modes -- because the campaigns are how you acquire Dynasty Weapons, which are pretty nice to have.

This game got a lot of support over the last two years and to me it feels like a very solid choice.

Thumbs up for every word! Kings Bounty , all three of them - I consider them some of my Game Jewels :))) And for those who want to try it - here is a free demo:

Based on your recommendation, Talana, I started up Kings Bounty: Crossworlds also. I see there's a camera mod and an interface mod out there on the 1c forums -- do you recommend modding that game?

I have not tried with any mods, so I do not know. I`ll probably try and see what happens next playthrough - just because it`s fun to try ;)
But like almost every other game I play - as long as the mods don`t add clearer and more beautiful colors ( which is certainly not needed in KB :) ) , I play the games like the developers made them at first - and try out stuff later :)
