Why are my Hero's spells weaker when fighting another Hero?

I have noticed that whenever I am in a battle with another Hero my spells are weaker. For example, I can summon only 10 Earth Elementals while normally I can summon 13. Thanks.

I believe this should only be the case vs orc heroes because of one of thier passives
reduce magic power.

Enemy hero's magic defence stat reduces power of your spells and magic attack damage of your creatures.

It shouldn't effect summons, if thats the case then gating should be reduced(if its not).

It affects all of your "spells" (which summons are). Gating is not a spell. Google "Heroes VI fan manual" and check formula section.

Thanks. Interesting in that a hero's magic defence not only helps his stacks resistance to magic attacks and spells but also acts as a magic suppresor for the enemy hero's casting ability, even when that casting is just to aid his own troops.

I have another problem though, i have the summon earth elemental but i cant summon them in battle anmore and i dont know why. Can someone help?
