Why do people hate this game?
I haven't played it in ages do to my PC dying and now I am waiting to get a new one.But it seems like most people hate this game.
To be honest I find it better then first 4 and as good as 5th one.

Uplay can eat a bag of ♥♥♥♥♥.

Honestly the game itself is alright, but the fact that I can't even play it is pissing me off

Weird, I never had a problem with Uplay.

There's more than just Uplay, though. In my case, I kept getting the "black screen bug" in battles, which more or less halted any attempts at progress. And then Ubisoft released a final patch, which still didn't fix that issue.

There are also tons of other issues with the game itself (some patched, others not. A bit hard to tell what is still a thing, but a past issue still leaves marks on the community), ranging from broken mechanics (spells not doing what they should, some dynasty weapons doing nothing, I think using a certain spell permanently reduced your stats etc.) to unfair AI (having an infinitely replenishable army was/is a thing).

And of course there's Uplay, which, while not an issue for some (me included), can be a complete mess for others.

I played 40hours and never ran into a problem. Can't wait to get my new pc to play this game. But the infinite army is a problem on some levels.

Yeah, the game is very much a hit/miss in regards to functionality. But that, in combination with the hit/miss functionality of Uplay, is probably the biggest reason why people tend to dislike this game.

People hate Heroes VI because of Uplay problems and black screen bugs i guess, but i never had one. I just click and play. Gameplay mechanics change a bit, compared to the previous games, but i do like it anyway. Today the 6th is my favorite ^^

The fact that the AI does not actually play the game during the campaign missions is what ruins it for me. Having the enemy hero and town defense armies being scripting to a fixed size that gets instantly replaced without the AI having to gather resources or anything means that the AI places no value on capturing or defending resources.

It removes the entire strategic aspect of the game centered around capturing the enemy's resources.

It makes it incredibly predictable and stupidly easy on the hardest difficulty setting for all the campaign missions.

Because they use tactics based on the assumption that the AI is playing by the same rules as you. They play against the AI how they played earlier version of Heroes.

Once you realize that denying resources to the AI, or bothering to capture his mines, or taking on tough neutral fights to get the reward behind it before the AI can -- are all completely and utterly worthless tactics the campaign missions become pathetically easy.

Shortly after this game was released many people posted on the forums about how the first Inferno mission on hard was impossible.

That motivated me to make my first youtube video and upload a lets player of that mission. I played it on hard. I picked the default might hero. I used no dynasty weapon. I used no dynasty perks.

And it was a cakewalk.

Years later people posted, "But it's impossible now after patch x.x.x. !1!1!!" So I patched up and played it again and it was just as easy.

It's all about understand the rules the AI is playing by and how they differ from what the player faces.

When the game was released I was really looking forward to making maps with the editor. I went through all the campaign missions in the editor and learned a great deal about how to use the editor. And I was flabergasted by how the AI was scripted to play.

i dont mind that in campaigns though and i always assumed they didnt need any resources and the such. maybe a few levels with the standard AI would have been nice but theres nothing wrong with scripted AI for campaigns imo. i mean after all you can play custom scenarios if you want the standard AI.

only thing that bugged me is that in certain missions you had as much time as you wanted and the enemies army wasnt growing so basically you could skip 500 turns and then recruit everybody but it was only a couple anyways. id say overall i enjoyed most of the campaigns but maybe im not the norm in that regard x

I think there are some good things with the game. The combat and skills seem interesting. I like the seige battles particularly as Inferno with fire bomb and mana leeching. I think they need to add adventure spells like dimension door, summon boat and town portal. I don't like that town portal comes from a building. It makes it really difficult to catch enemies and have any battles. There needs to be more movement range with abilities so you can chase down enemies. Much of the most fun battles used to be between small scout armies in older versions. I think the maps are too graphic detailed, would rather more basic maps that are functional and can be randomly generated. I don't like the auto-leveling of heroes, wish this could be turned off. It seems the AI plays possum at the start and then gets better later in the game.
There are things in the game that make it worth playing, probably best to start with the campaigns.

Well, basically, there are 3 main reasons:
1. Resources and Economy were dumbed down.
2. The gameplay was changed alot.
3. Uplay is a pile of crap.

1:IMO this poses a chalange. Before you could get tons of gold by selling Sulfur, Merkury,Gems etc since you need them for magic guild and champion units.
2:Not really
3:Yeah.

I think its great. I can't believe I actually am interested in the story. I've played all of the others but don't remember any notable story in those? Haven't played 7 yet, need to finish this one first.
