It sounds like you are referring to a mod you may have seen. The original version has no dials. Not sure if the original version has an emergency blow ballast button on screen, but it is listed in the help (F1 in game). Download a mega mod such as Magnum Opus mod. You will have more fun with mods. Cheers.

It combines many smaller mods: weather enhancements; water appearance; crew behavior; watch crew presence; weapon realism; TDC dials; ship recognition book; quick conversion charts (speed, etc.); charting and navigation tools.

Magnum Opus does have real navigation. In fact, you can use a sextant if you want to to find your position!

I'm using the stock/vanilla version of the game, and when using there pereiscope there are already dials in the upper left of the screen for the speed and depth of the torpedos. Not sure what more you're asking for.

As for the blow ballast, yes it is shift R. Crash dive for reference is shift V.

I use it often. No need, as my navigator does the job fine on his own. But when I want more additional realism, I measure my position myself. Not many people actually know how to use a sextant to do this. But I learned in the US Navy, and still remember it. It's not hard. At night, the pole star is visible, and during the day, the sun is visible, unless there is a heavy overcast. Just remember to measure from the star to the horizon. You get accurate lattitude that way. Longitude is a bit more tricky. ;)

it's great!

i read somewhere that for RN you need the patcher, and that the patcher doesent' work with steam version. so now i know that RN is available simply modding. great.

i was in italian navy and after sailed in sea and ocean, but everyone can learn to do it thought youtube sh5 tutorials or wikipedia files very easily. use it is not difficult, use it well is an art.

i'll try to install when in port. thanks,
