In order to stay stealthy, use silient running mode and use electric motor to evade the SONAR detection field and don't use nazi flag mounted on. without flag mounted on the sub that makes much more difficult for allied to see your sub. hope that helps.

EDIT: for driving an electric motor while in stealth mode, set your view at 0 degree course for view ahead and try evade the destroyer ship bow is head towards you and let the destroy dropping the depth charge out of your way and try hit this destroyer ship with torpedo if the enemy ship is stopped moving.
