I wish they expanded it a bit more and made choice a bit more integral besides a pow wow session. But it was an interesting idea..

It was an interesting Atttempt but really anti-climatic and too sudden, it just felt weird and dissapointing

i suppose the problem is that it makes it feel like nothing mattered

Usually I'm not a fan of the whole "nothing was real" angle in storytelling, but I would argue it's not quite the case in Prey. The simulation you go though, for the most part, was reconstructed from events that did occur in the recent past. It's not an exact retelling since the subject needed to be able to make its own choices in order for the experiment to mean anything. However, the general framework of events is there.

If we base this off the "ideal" ending where Alex and the operators decide to spare you and you agree to help them, it's essentially Morgan's "rebirth". They've implanted a Typhon mimic with human cognition and succeeded in making it believe it was Morgan Yu to the point where the original and the mimic are now largely indistinguishable.

I say rebirth because I assume the original Morgan did not survive the earthside invasion as he is suspiciously absent and Alex's wording make it sounds like he's glad you're "back". Alex basically copied Morgan's personality onto the blank neural slate of a modified mimic and the game takes place during that process.

Yeah, I laughed pretty hard at it, I mean I loved the game, but after I went through it being a "do-gooder" only to come out of it realizing it was a farce; I slaughtered Alex and the robots after they decided to let me live. Definitely plan on another run though, it's really fun.
