Shift 2 Unleashed - can't start

I've tried a couple things I saw online about this problem to maybe solve but it didn't help. Any ideas on what might help? I just bought this game, whenever I press play it says I'm "Now playing shift 2 Unleashed" for 2 seconds, then closes. the game doesn't even come up on screen.

AMD card connected to screen with HDMI? Their sound over HDMI drivers mess up steam.

Nope, I'm using DVI. HDMI actually messes it up? Lol.

Ok, another thing you can do is navigate to your steam installation directory using explorer, and go to the game folder. Something like SteamApps\common\[gamename].

If you start the game from there by double clicking the shift2u application you might just get an error message :-) hope this helps. If you start from steam, it suppresses error messages.

I had the same issue. I found a workaround:
- navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Need For Speed Shift 2
- rightclick shift2u.exe -> Properties
- select tab Compatibility
- select Windows 7, if you're running Windows 8
- check "Run as Administrator"
- apply and launch via shift2u.exe

You have to download the game from origin using the key from steam to activate it i had the same problem :)
