I beleive as long as the DLC is registered on your origins account, that's what matters. You can check this by loading the launcher, which will highlight all the DLC registered to your account at the bottom, if I remember right.

Steam will not let me add the DLC to my games library as the sims 3 base game is registered with Origins so iam un able to get the code??

You can add CD-keys from steam to origin, but you cannot add CD-keys to steam.

You can register DLC's to origin if you've the base game registered to it.

I play Sims on Origin because Steam can't seem to figure it out when I try to add expansion pack keys, but Origin can.
Granted, at the moment I'm having some trouble getting Steam to show me the CD-key for Sims 3 Movie Stuff, but it's worked until now :)

Im the same its the movie stuff pack that I have but I cannot access the code to register. Any ideas on how to add the base game to my library as a non-steam game as I can only access the launcher through the search options??

My launcher runs The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe when I click the play button. You might try adding that.

Tried that and its not working. Wish they just sent a key and then you could just register would be so much easier. Have sent a ticket to steam but heard they can take ages to respond.

You're problem is that you just want to add a non-steam game as launchable through the Steam interface, correct? I feel like I'm missing something.

no I just want to add sims3 as a non-steam game to my game library so steam will recognize that I have the base game so I can then add the dlc to my library and get the game code

i play through origins

*Sigh* only way you can get your base game to steam is to BUY it from steam, you cannot get it any other way.

Even if you have bought the base game from steam, it wont use the CD-keys you get from origin or retail version of the game.

Only place which accepts The Sims 3 CD-Keys is Origin.

Pretty much what Theefzor said. You can't make steam recognize that you have the game by adding a non-steam version.

You have to register your extra content out of steam if you are wanting to get it. You can redeem a code on The Sims 3 website.

Well guess I will have to wait for steam to reply and hopefully they will be nice and just send me the code for the game. Cheers guys

I have been one of those people who bought the collection when it was on sale last year on steam and after a while steam stopped putting new DLC on so i thought they had stopped adding them to steam as they did have a falling out with EA in the past, so i wondered to if i could put my DLC from steam onto Origin and the answer is YES you can add all your steam codes onto Origin and play The Sim 3 with all DLC from there instead of buying the game again on Steam. As steam wont reconise you have it on Origin but as i said you can add the DLC to Origin instead.
