Crashing
Everytime I start the game it crashes after a few seconds! It gets very frustrating. Sometimes it works but then the next day whenI play it crashes again! :(

Can you tell us what troubleshooting steps you've tried, and also what your computer specs are?

how did you fix it as mine crashes but turns my whole laptop off with it. its a new laptop perfectly capable of running sims 3. ive uninstalled it twice and reinstalled it hoping that works. i need help if you can?

My bud's laptop automatically turns itself off as soon as it starts to overheat.. that's the only thing ive got for "laptop" problems lol

well i ruled that out already, and it only happens with sims. not happy as ive paid 30 quid for something i cant play :(

the game itself i think. my neice added an extension pack but i dont know how to remove it. im not that good with these things yet lol

Can you tell me how did you fix it mines crashing too and it turns off the computer! I want to play it but I can't! Help me pleasee

Hi everyone. I had the exact same problem and went through the whole checklist of possible crash causes. What finaly made it work for me (with a clean install and no mods) was to update my BIOS and motherboard chipset drivers. Before that I had crashes that rebooted my computer a couple of minutes into gameplay. On ASUS homepage (my motherboard is ASUS), it stated in one of the newer drivers that it fixed a problem with certain NVIDIA graphic cards.

I know how frustrating it is to not being able to enjoy your game. I sincerely hope that you get your game up and running. Good luck!

EDIT: Be very careful when you update your BIOS so you do not "brick" your computer. Not sure if you can brick it but if the boot order is changed your might end up with errors such as "no bootloader found" when starting your computer. If you do not know how to rearrange the boot order in BIOS, ask someone who is more computer savvy to help you.

I restarted my computer and it worked when I turned The Sims 3 on.
