TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE!
Im having terrible performance problems playing The sims 3! I can play pretty much all modern games on ULTRA on my AMD GPU but for some reason whenever i try move the camera in-game the framerate decreases quite significantly! Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

The Sims 3 is poorly coded I think

Some mods help a lot. I found that NRAAS's "Overwatch" mod cleaned up a lot of the lag-causing problems I was having.

You can find the base site for all these here: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/

Same here I have a nippy PC but this stutter is making it not very enjoyable to play...But I shall try the "Overwatch" mod after work.

if you have never modded sims 3 before you will need some files and a directory to put them here is an easy way to do it.

To echo what others have said. My CPU is the i5-2500K, with an ATI 6970, and I randomly get huge FPS drops, from 60 to 20FPS.

The stuttering is terrible. I tried overwatch but from my observation I just think the whole game is coded into a bloody mess and I hope the devs don't make the same mistake with TS4

Oh, they will.

People -- stupid people (like me) -- just keep buying the games and relying on third parties to fix the issues that EA/Maxis can never seem to manage to fix (even though testers tell them all about the brokeness of the game).

*sigh*

I think until we all just stop buying their broken games -- or we all get class-action status and sue (ha!) -- this pattern will just continue.

And they wonder why everybody pirates their games!

I've given up on the game since I got it in the humble origin bundle. Performence is unexcusable.

Bottom line.. don't accept vacations whilst at uni considering that whole place is like a sub-town and you have a limited amount of days on staying there. Buuut I might look into the problem... Google is your friend lol

The lag/glitchiness can vary depending on which town you're playing too. For example if you have Isla Paradiso there are some areas where the game will spawn sims but the routing has these areas blocked from the rest of the world so the sims get stuck and cause the stuttering. Overwatch can fix once they're stuck but you still will get the stutters as they're getting there.

DEP can help too

I bought sims3 again on origin through the EA humble bundle and it seems to run alot smoother than the steam version for some reason :/

Just curious, have you tried the ctrl shift c and type resetsim already?
